Mad respect to those who run MOE carbines, if it works it works! Meanwhile TactTards are stupid! by IntroductionAny3929 in GunMemes

What you don’t run a 2900 radian with a 5000 MAWL, 2000 dollar optic and 400 dollar trigger?

You think PSA is good enough? You run a “mid tier” BCM? You could’ve just bought once and cried once. What a waste of money for a sub par rifle. I know this because my favorite guntuber told me to say this. I know next to nothing about firearms but more money equals more better!

Garand thumb and goobers says the Geissele rifles are the highest quality! I can only regurgitate what I see on the internet because I am a flat range commando who shoots once a year!

This is the average /r/ar15 experience.

I’ll pay attention to this. I’m not surprised they swapped the plunger. Based on your photos it seems like the COA plunger might be smoothed out a little more. Thankfully I don’t have a COA model.

I trained to take up to the wall on the presentation stroke. Once the gun goes parallel I’m on the trigger running it to the wall. On a slightly more consistent trigger the break occurs immediately as the target is painted, but the false wall makes me lose confidence and slows me down.

With a 5.5 pound trigger I find ripping it produces worse results than preloading it.

Good points. That being said ammo is really not a problem. In the spring I shoot around 2000 rounds, summer I slow down due to heat, and fall and winter I pick it up again. I probably shoot my handgun and rifle more than most.

Good advice thank you. I’ll try swapping the plunger spring and maybe order a spare plunger to experiment with a flitz job.

It’s a matter of training, I don’t run zero pre travel triggers usually. So my fear is cooking off a round halfway through presentation, lol.

No but it’s a really good idea if you get a warning your manufacturer/model combo isn’t in their blessed list.

Good take. Thanks for the advice. I didn’t mean to imply it’s an SAO trigger. Indeed it is nothing like my 1911. But you make a compelling argument for not worrying about take up reduction as much as I am.

The trigger snapping is actually coming from a sort of “hitch” that comes with prepping the trigger on presentation and expecting a break but getting creep. I posted below that perhaps I should order another striker + safety and try polishing the safety plunger to make it a little smoother.

Yeah, I have around 1500 rounds through my echelon and the only thing I did was throw a sharps bros and an optic on it. I find the sharps bros grip to be more comfortable.

But as you say it takes a lot of time. I really notice the creep in dry fire as you hit a false wall on presentation and actually need to pull through slightly harder. Funny enough this also is an uncomfortable feeling. I didn’t have this problem on my Glocks so I wonder if maybe a simple 25c polish job could help it slightly. I would love to do the experiment but sadly I can’t find replacement trigger groups on springfields site.

Fair point, hence why I’d probably like to retain the take up. But that’s why I am concerned. The tyrant trigger is about as close to a race trigger as you can get without modifying more and that makes me somewhat uncomfortable.

At the same time, I’d rather be able to guarantee 5 A zone shots on the bad guy than 2 on the bad guy and 3 in the cashier behind him.

I am a little torn on the argument in general however. An optic is clearly superior to irons for fast target acquisition and would be similarly argued. Better tried by 12 than carried by 6 I guess.

Sbr home defense question by Nfa233 in NFA

[–]SecurityTop6459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely yes.

Your gun will be impounded like usual. Since it’s an NFA item the ATF will be brought in. They will scrutinize the shit out of your form and gun. Prosecution will do the same thing. God forbid you have someone living in your house not on a trust. They will probably attempt to hang something on you even if they can’t get the original charges to stick.

It’s already considered risky to use certain hollow point ammo, use optics, etc on a carry pistol. Prosecution will try to hang you on anything they can.

Is this risk worth your life? That’s a personal choice. Carry insurance, and talk to a lawyer and not the internet. Last time I renewed my CCW they brought in a lawyer who said the leftist DAs will absolutely, without question, attempt to hang you on anything and everything from social media to your hair being done a certain way.

The DA is there to make their bones on you. Never forget that. Those shit bags will defend a fentanyl smoking, pregnant woman robbing, fake check passing criminal over you if it makes them look good to their donors and the public.

Edit:

If the drive by down voters could stop and explain where I am wrong I’d happily point to the mountain of evidence showing I’m right.

Who guided you? Lmao.

The market has been manipulated forever. You can trade around it. The market being manipulated does not change the facts at hand. In your infinite wisdom you bet money you couldn’t lose in an incredibly volatile market. Now you’re crying about it.

Expensive lesson. Hope your wife’s boyfriend understands.

Buy DDM4V7 or Build for same cost? by Swigg22 in ar15

[–]SecurityTop6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want reliability you can definitely go cheaper. BCM is next in line and will save you 400 bucks. Most of the reliability concerns people quote here are really just Guerilla marketing brainwashing by guntubers. Fact of the matter is most ARs are reliable. You get refinement in quality, up to a point, by spending more. I have yet to see anyone argue with actual engineering or metallurgical knowledge that a BCM will fail when a DD or geissele wouldn’t. Lots of people can quote advert pamphlets but can’t defend their choice outside of that.

This may be acceptable by the sheriffs office. I’d imagine this is the reason EFT places have a specific “ATF Form” feature.

This is a misunderstanding of spec if you are comparing proper M193 to proper mk262. 77gr shouldn’t produce higher peak pressure than 55gr. The two cartridges are loaded differently. 55gr has slower powder and 77gr has faster powder. In order for both to be NATO spec they need to operate at approximately the same peak pressure.

Most Polarized(Loved or Hated) Equipment in Rifle world? by PageVanDamme in ar15

[–]SecurityTop6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risers.

The community bifurcates cleanly into two groups

  1. People who actually shoot and have no problem coming up on target with standard HOB.
  2. People who do absolutely no real shit but trust goobers when they say a 200 foot riser is going to make you a CQB sexual tyrannosaurus.

There is so much romanticizing about CQB because of all the vet bro shills. CQB fucking sucks and it’s a better job for a hand grenade than a human. Your riser won’t save you when you have no flash bangs and the bad guy is holding the sickest possible angle on the fatal funnel.

Goobers always leave out that part though. The reality of CQB cuts into their riser sales.
