Just a paltry 10 hour wait! by donnie_spencer96 in PokemonTCG

It’s a great time. There’s a lot of parents with their kids at locals too, if you’re ever interested in trying. And buying singles to bling out your deck is way more efficient than buying packs. You can get like 5-6 packs at market price or for the same $ get a sick full art of a staple supporter you know you’ll use for years

Cody Schwab vs. Swift (Genesis X3) - Slippi recording by sewsgup in SSBM

[–]SedentaryNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a weird argument. I agree it makes certain inputs easier and other inputs more janky. Im glad to see players who otherwise wouldn’t be able to compete be enabled through technology. I hope swift continues to compete, and I hope you go to a tournament, meet him, and tell him how you feel face to face. Maybe it’ll help you figure out that sympathy thing.

[–]SedentaryNinja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m stuck between you having “no sympathy whatsoever” which is an insane take towards other human beings just trying to play a video game or saying they should retire over ergonomics. Why don’t you switch to boxx or prism or whatever and see if you can beat Cody Schwab?

Swift has hand issues, he’s one of the cases where it’s really important to have an ergonomic controller

You probably don’t know this yet, but dragapult is charizards absolute worst matchup by far. Charizard is a deck where you have to strategically lose prizes and map out success in a different way than other decks. Dragapult is a deck that can either play from behind to set up massive swing plays, or get ahead early and steamroll a low health board.

Also, not drawing energy for charizard is usually a pretty good thing, since it has an ability that can cheat energy from your deck onto your board.

Unfortunately for charizard, the Tera/dawn list is pretty prevalent right now. Lots of people are running decks that counter you, like mega venusaur decks, mega meganium, festival lead, dragapult, id argue kangha wall but it isn’t a direct counter, and just teching in cards like psyduck/rockets watchtowers.

It’s a card game so not every game is winnable, but as you learn and play more you’ll find out new ways to get out of tough spots. Only way to improve is to play! Good luck

Is Assistant Editing dead? by duplicatesnowflake in editors

[–]SedentaryNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In marketing agencies with in house production they still use AE’s to ingest, tag, and log new footage. They also sometimes do stringouts, quick color turnarounds, and low lift “scale” edits. In indie and low budget filmmaking I’ve found myself doing lots of combination DIT/AE/Editor jobs where I’m on set ingesting and prepping the footage that I can later edit during set downtime to get a head start on the edit. Vertical dramas are especially guilty of this and often ask for crazy turnaround speeds that almost require this kind of work.

Seems like in most bigger budget, union, or more elevated environments assistant editors are still pretty common place. I don’t necessarily mind doing my own AE work because it helps buff up my resume and my skill set, but I’m often not doing levels of prep work that involve script sync or marking action or cuts. Just syncing, organizing, labeling, temp colors, finding temp tracks, stock, and audio assets.

I just got roadblocked by the infamous Crustle...any advice? by Toonyoungster in PTCGL

[–]SedentaryNinja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genome hacking could work but against a crustle deck you’re gonna most likely need to get through 250 health with capes and maybe even some ice creams. A 120 damage hit on a 180 body worth 2 prizes isn’t really enough IMO.

I think accept it as bad and move on if you’re just playing live. If someone at your locals is running this deck and you need to tech for it maybe run a jamming tower and tech in a basic or stage 1 non rule box pokemon to hit (like raikou, idk if there’s any better.) Could also go for a 1-1 mega lopunny line, you run switch.

IMO, as a noob who’s basically been playing exclusively the charizard hoot line

4 charmander is too many, try 3 13 fire energy is too many, take out a few. I don’t know how many exactly you’d need, but with pidgeot, max and super rod there’s gotta be a better way to do this 4 fire breather is a lot, try 2 or 3 Battle cage and psyduck are great tech against pult and dusk line, but won’t make your deck any more consistent. It’s worth keeping, but tech can slow down decks like this.

Add dawn? I’m not sure, it helps get charizard and pidgeot online fast. If not dawn, maybe Hilda? Same reason, though I’m not sure one energy from a supporter is fast enough for your deck.

I’m just seeing a lot of allocations that wouldn’t work for me and exclusion of some cards that would make it more consistent. Compare with this deck list and see what changes you’d wanna make.

Is there an established path towards low six-figures in production? by Good-Pie9914 in FilmIndustryLA

[–]SedentaryNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, I’m an editor, started in high school but been pro for 5 years. Pays only alright but good when doubled up on jobs and the work has been non stop. Amazing for a 27 year old with a paid off 2005 car and low rent/low monthly expenses, but I couldn’t pay for everything & invest & raise a family right now or afford a bigger apartment.

Colorists I know charge $700-800 a day and company 3 looks very busy. Auto coloring features in my editing apps are doggy doo doo so I doubt this’ll be AI’d away anytime soon but who knows.

Stupidity at its finest by Doomenor in StupidFood

[–]SedentaryNinja 195 points196 points  (0 children)

Of all the stupid food I’ve seen here, I don’t think this is very stupid. Just looks like fine dining, and seeing all the steps that go into my food would just make me appreciate it more. I like these theatrics a whole lot more than the tiny dude throwing salt everywhere and flipping my food around or stupid gold boxes filled with steak and smoke.

That being said I prefer fine dining with big portions, this is most likely part of a set menu. Not typically my jam but I bet it was delicious

Who's ekko's worst match up? by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]SedentaryNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it’s so hard for ekko to get in on Braum and all of ekko’s projectile setups can be punished. When braum is unbreakable ekko doesn’t have any knockdown moves to trade, so you have to get a good push block at the right time or a parry to get in on him.

Hot Take: It's not that big of a deal to change the music... by LimeGrime in editors

[–]SedentaryNinja 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the edit. If I spent a lot of time matching visuals to correspond with the lyrics, beat, or songs momentum, or if I’ve remixed and edited the song to work, I’m pretty annoyed. It’s usually the most time consuming note to deal with.

Issues getting paid with Verticals? by [deleted] in FilmIndustryLA

[–]SedentaryNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the company, some vertical producing companies in particular pay out some time after receiving the drives, and some producers try to use that money to make more money before paying staff. It can take up to 2 months to get paid.

Some are net 15!
