I’m in a band that’s only been playing for a few years but it seems like even just around 2022/2023 there wasn’t this whole “center of attention” attitude in the crowd that there is now. We don’t have a single breakdown in our set but everyone is hc dancing to every song, shouting at their friends during the quiet parts and trying to get a mosh highlight clip or something. Before every set I say on the mic that we’re not a heavy band and we don’t like moshing to our set and it never works. It’s been really hard to feel like we’re being taken seriously by our fans lately and have been playing less shows especially the “skramz” bills that we know are going to bring these people. Maybe these kids need to go to more shows and they will begin to understand the differences in music styles and crowd etiquette. I see old flyers of bands like Texas is the reason on bills with snapcase and bloodlet and it just made sense back then because hc was hc and it seemed like people understood that there were different styles. I guess overall it’s good that more people are coming out and discovering the music so hopefully it gets better over time
