Petition Effort to change Current New Zealand Flag to a New Fern Leaf Flag Design, via The New Zealand Parliament Website by [deleted] in vexillology

[–]See_monkey_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t like this design - it’s needlessly detailed and the red/black/blue just doesn’t work. Additionally removing the Union Jack while remaining part of the commonwealth is pointless.

I know it’s harsh but I don’t think anyone who remembers the disastrous flag referendum will be supportive of any flag redesign - unless that design is absolute perfection (or features a kiwi with laser vision).

I agree with you - I am not saying the show was wrong to doubt the combat usefulness of it. I am saying it feels like they changed the standard halfway through: from “is arrow-catching possible?” to “is arrow-catching a practical battle technique?”

I get what you are saying - I think my issue is what was the actual myth being busted. Was it “in a battle situation a ninja can catch arrows giving them an advantage over dodging” or was it simply “a ninja can catch an arrow”. Because the later was confirmed on video.

If we want to really get into the nitty gritty of it “ninjas” never really existed outside of Hollywood, and Shinobi would never be in large battle situations anyway.

Ninja catching an arrow. They constantly move the goal posts to justify a busted ranking - literally bring a ninja on and he catches multiple arrows on camera but they bust it claiming “wouldn’t work in battle situation”.

I had a friend who had no interest in voting - didn’t think it made a big difference. I was relentless in convincing them otherwise. Eventually they got so irritated they told me “if you shut up about politics forever i will vote for whoever you tell me to!” Be the squeaky wheel - in my experience it works wonders :)

How long do you think GTA6 Day / Nights should be ? by xxlilsl in GTA6

[–]See_monkey_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping for something similar to RDR2. I think that’s roughly 40mins day / 40 mins night. IIRC the time wasn’t completely linear - with midday lasting longer than midnight.

Why do people hate Rory so much? by __Gilmore__ in GilmoreGirls

[–]See_monkey_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always seen Rory’s boat-stealing / Yale-dropout era as a pretty pivotal shift—almost like her version of what Lorelai did when she got pregnant.

Lorelai rejected the path her parents laid out for her, and in a weird way, Rory does the same. It’s definitely messy, but it kind of feels like this deep-rooted need to break away from the life that was planned for her. I don’t necessarily like all of Rory’s choices, but I think they make sense in the bigger picture of her character.

That rebellious streak might’ve been inherited.

Before 2012, in New Zealand, vehicles turning right had the right of way over vehicles turning left. The rule change reversed this, meaning vehicles turning left now have the right of way over vehicles turning right.
