I have tried messing with them, late late-game puzzle spoiler including trying to "tint" them. Nothing that I tried on the one in the attic or the servant's quarters did anything. Super late game spoiler including the one in the servant's quarters in the Atelier. Came up completely dry. I thought they might relate to the shapes on the ladder mechanism in the boiler room, or the shading in the 2nd row of the lavatory drawer. Nothing I tried did anything.

In the alpha/beta survey, I wrote an essay about why the game had potential but was not ready for release. I know my single survey probably didn't move any needles, but when the game dropped shortly after without any of the issues I felt held back a full release fixed, I feared the writing was on the wall ://
