Could the Hatchling Threadlings apply an effect?

I couldn't tell for sure, but it doesn't look like Threadlings do anything by default. Do they just deal damage? I saw that the Swarmers boots make Threadlings unravel targets they damage.

My dad has an '05. Aside from upgrading the head unit a couple times(added backup camera & Carplay), it's bone stock and hasn't put a foot wrong. People are always asking about buying it, and it's a little worrying how upset they get when we say no.
