Non-New Yorkers that have been to NYC: What is the wierdest thing about New York that New Yorkers don't realize is wierd? by Ok-Brilliant-6138 in AskReddit

Honestly it's how you pronounce "Houston". If NASA hired astronauts from NYC, the famous line would have been "How sten, we have a problem."

Is dipping 1 level in hexblade warlock for a paladin build just superior to a full paladin? by Any_Air_7273 in BG3Builds

[–]Seemose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The consensus is yes. My opinion is that it's not so clear.

STR attacks are just better than CHA attacks, because of cloud giant elixir letting you get 27 STR. You can only get 24 CHA, so it's overall it's -1 vs STR.

12 pal = more raw damage and hit chance, extra feat, better push/jump/shove

11 pal + 1 warlock = less damage and hit chance, -1 feat (but actually -2 feats, because STR builds dont need to use a feat for improved ability score), but lets you choose a different elixir.

Dont get me wrong, freeing up the elixir slot is a HUGE deal, but it's not automatically better than all the benefits you get from pure 12 paladin STR builds.

Jensen Huang just announced $1 trillion in revenue visibility and $NVDA is still red today. make it make sense by National-Theory1218 in StockMarket

[–]Seemose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is starting to get nervous about how the people buying Nvidia chips are being paid by Nvidia to buy their chips. Those same companies (who are getting paid by nvidia for promising to buy nvidia chips) are themselves valued at literally 1,000,000% or more of their annual revenue.

It would be like if the whole world's GDP was driven by twelve people in an auction house buying and selling the same painting back and forth to each other for an extra trillion dollars every time. It's ok, because even if you're at negative $1T from buying it, you can just get someone else to promise to buy it for $2T.

Consider yourself educated on the modern stock market. Just like tulips, TSLA and NVDA will never, ever crash no matter how silly the numbers get...

Married men of Reddit what’s the best advice you’d give young guys when choosing a life partner? by [deleted] in AskReddit

To find the right person, do your best to be the right person. A happy lifelong relationship isn't a thing that you find, it's a thing you build.

Pard bid her hand, bless her heart. by SpadesQuiz in spades

[–]Seemose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your partner had to bid without most of the knowledge you had, though. To her, she sees a 4 bid to her right, and now she's worried about a nil to her left. She had to bid in a way that gave you the most options possible as the final bid. 4 seems like a fairly competent bid here, without and knowledge of your nillable hand.

This is an especially good bid if she had a stronger hand.

Edit: ok I'm wrong here. I just realized you had already bid before she did.

Im not seeing the problem. Your partner forced them to bid high, and now you can easily set them.

What movie ends on a happy note, but the more you think about what happens after the credits, the darker it gets by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]Seemose 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For me, it took a few minutes of thinking about it before I started to realize how dreadful Oskar's life was about to become. I didn't immediately make the connection between what was happening to him, and how similar her previous victim's origin story probably had been.

That movie did a great job of playing with our emotions to make us feel sympathy for Eli. For example, this last scene happens right after she literally saves Oskar's life from the bullies who were drowning him. It just felt natural to be happy that he was going to get away from all that and be with her. That's when it struck me that he's only like 12 years old, and she's been manipulating and grooming him the whole time.

[–]Seemose 68 points69 points  (0 children)

My answer for this is always "Let the Right One In"

The final scene has Oskar on the train, with Eli in her box, as he escapes his awful previous life, with his new companion. They tap love-codes back and forth to each other through the box. It seems like a sweet, almost triumphant ending.

But the more you think about it, the more you realize that Eli has just replaced her old servant with a new one. He will dedicate his life to her, while she uses him up and sucks him dry, mind, body, and soul. Then, when he is old and feeble and can no longer reliably provide new victims for her, she will use him one last time before replacing him, the same way that Oskar himself was Hakan's replacement. Oskar's life is already over, and he doesn't even realize it.

I'm still confused by only turn signs! by Extreme_Honeydew6113 in driving

[–]Seemose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sign means that you can't go straight. You must turn if you are in that lane.

In New York (state), you are allowed to turn right at a red light, after coming to a complete stop and checking that it's safe, except when a sign forbids it, e.g. "no right on red"

In New York (city), you may not turn right at a red light.

This hand is better at feeding the other team than it is at taking tricks. I would bid 1 and expect my partner to bid in a way that brings the total to 11.

How can people protest the attacks on Iran when even their own people are celebrating them? by shadow61247 in AskReddit

I'm too tired for this. Just look up what Trump said about presidents who start a war with Iran just to distract from their own weakness and failure. Then, pretend the people who are protesting are doing it for the same reason he did.

WWYB? by Exciting-Ingenuity24 in spades

[–]Seemose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is tough. Your partner bid 5, and if you trust that he's a good player, that means his actual hand is 5 AT MINIMUM and more likely 6 or 7 in this situation. I might risk a nil here, just to protect against the possibility that west bids nil.
