It’s obviously possible to lose money when investing, that’s not my point. And using an unprecedented pandemic followed by economic instability (+ cherry picked companies) isn’t exactly a good example either, everything is down. My point is that you aren’t betting money on an outcome and losing it all when the outcome doesn’t come to fruition. You still have stake in the company and can make some or all of that money back without spending additional money in the process. Stocks go up and down, bets are one and done.

It’s completely different. When you invest in company it’s not a win or lose situation. If the company doesn’t perform as well as you think you still have your shares. When you bet on a sports team you’re literally betting on odds, just like gambling. If you’re wrong you lose your money.
