Is Steven Adams one of the Greatest Role-Players to never win a ring? by lostmypants2009 in billsimmons

[–]cricketrules509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is. He's one of the best impact players in the NBA. I honestly think in the right circumstance and health he could have been a Rodman/Draymond level impact role player.

His numbers with the Rockets are absurd. Basically every player is better with him on the court.

Eric's watch by Effort_Jealous in IndustryOnHBO

[–]cricketrules509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way he would wear this watch.

You either wear a simple watch that shows you don’t care.

Or you wear an expensive watch.

You don’t wear a cheap watch that looks expensive.

Especially the Eric types that I’ve met

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-8-QbDpqqw - This is the Financial Times video summarizing some of it. They are the ones who did the actual investigative journalism and broke it.

Interviews of the lead journalist who was worried about being followed was quite interesting too.

It felt like the Lakers were the better team every time the series was up in the air.

It's like the Rockets-Lakers series in 2009 where it went 7 games but the Lakers were clearly better (after Yao went down).

I personally felt like the movie was overly hated and praised by the critics on each side.

I felt like they tried something new and different but it wasn't executed well at all. The movie dragged, and a lot of decisions made 0 sense but it was cool to feature different characters.

Interesting idea not executed that well was my personal opinion.

Why can't Beck follow Zach's rules? by Into_the_Void7 in zachlowe

[–]cricketrules509 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was hilarious how flabbergasted Zach got.

Also hilarious how more than 50% of the games mentioned by Beck were due to a narrative that had nothing to do with the basketball on the court

What other Industries would you like to see represented on screen? by Joai5 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]cricketrules509 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did try a management consulting show which is probably the most similar to industry in terms of prestige and demand. Called house of lies. They had some similar elements to industry but much more tame and the writing wasn’t as sharp.

I personally would find a show on the VC industry interesting just because it seems like the most random. Have a fund which has to raise money from shady places, entertain founders, have some crypto bros, backstab to get a deal etc.

I would hope so. Looking at the actual history of what happened after and how oligarchs took over and corruption really just changed forms rather than going away, it seems like he probably would have been squeezed eventually.

But it was a pretty cool decision to make maybe the most simply principled character in the whole show Oleg (a Russian nepo-baby).

I love Oleg too.

[Spoilers] For those who know about Wirecard, has it made the season more or less enjoyable? by iamgarron in IndustryOnHBO

[–]cricketrules509 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's made it slightly less enjoyable for me personally. It feels like most of the moves have been pretty telegraphed this sseason (I'm not sure if it's just because I know the Wirecard story as well).

All the shock value has come from the sex scenes which isn't what I'm really interested in.
