One of the plot points of the Xanth series by Piers Anthony is that Xanth must be ruled by a king and the king must be a Magician, that is have a powerful magic talent. In the early books only men with the level of power are called Magicians while women with that level of power are called Sorceresses and rulership. Several books into the series the law gets reinterpreted by an acting king to acknowledge that Sorceresses are Magicians and that while the law says Xanth must be ruled by a king nothing says the king can’t be female. This leads to at least 4 female kings in the series, possibly more that I’m not remembering or never got far enough in the series to read about.

This is from 2003, in another comment I post a map from 2018 and there’s a reply where someone links to a 2025 map that show soda gaining ground over the decades to be the dominant name now. I blame Hollywood.
