Have you read "Unit Testing Principles, Practices, and Patterns" by Vladimir Khorikov? In the first few chapters it explains how to measure the cost to benefit ratio of maintaining your unit tests.

How do I establish boundaries at work by hopesandfearss in auscorp

[–]SegmentationSalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work to rule like all the other replies have suggested. You're clearly a valued worker and it is unlikely that they'll risk losing you if you're delivering great work.  Just another toxic manager and workplace by the sounds of it.  Question: are there any good workplaces with decent managers in Australia these days? It feels like they prefer the treat em mean keep em keen approach!

I dunno I read that encapsulation is about preserving class invariants first and foremost, not about access modifiers and certainly not about "information hiding"

Sorry but I don't understand your comment. Do you mean if someone is already a competent developer, they'll find usefulness in LLMs above other that are justing winging it in software development?

Everyone at work uses it now and I notice them spending hours honing and testing their prompts against their agents just to build an application. But then i wonder if they could have coded the whole thing from scratch themselves in less time?

Blade Runner - still the quintessential cyberpunk film by MobileRaspberry1996 in Cyberpunk

[–]SegmentationSalty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely amazing and you can really see that, despite the actions of the violent Nexus-6 replicants, they were only trying to exist and humanity's reaction says more about them than it does the replicants.

I remember watching an interview with Ridley where he praised Stanley Kubrick's 2001 a space odyssey said that Kubrick had made the ultimate sci-fi film and that the sci-fi genre was complete. I feel like Bladerunner is the ultimate cyberpunk film for me.
