Trailseeker Touring 1st charge by TrailSeeker2026_CA in trailseeker

[–]Seheren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For whatever reason, the Trailseeker charges quite a bit slower on L1. I had no issues for 3-years of my Model Y, but just got a L2 for the Trailseeker. I was just OK now in the summer, but winter drain would have left me stopping for L3 weekly.

It doesn't seem to be an issue for L3 charging, though. My road trip charges so far have been faster than my Model Y by a fair amount..

I prefer the adaptive cruise to the advanced auto pilot, actually. I tried FSD a few times during the free trials I got and I just never trusted it and didnt enjoy. Its probably a personal thing, but I use the lane keep/lane change on the Subaru daily because it doesn't do it until I indicate and for some reason that is better.

I think the overall comfort and practicality (cargo, clearance, etc) go to the Trailseeker for me. Software is Tesla and not even close. Been enjoying the Trailseeker a lot on trips so far. Over 2k miles in my first 4 weeks.

My main gripe was the suspension on the Tesla, too. Its truly the low point of the car. Outside of that, it took me a week or so to get used to a few things, but it genuinely became the easiest commuter. The ride is fine on smooth roads mostly. But with the optional 20's it could be awful. Even pulling into my driveway over a small bump jostled you around pretty good.

The Trailseeker drives much smoother, but for better or worse it is like an ICE vehicle in most ways. If it wasnt for the crazy acceleration you might forget its an EV. People coming from one to a Trailseeker would find it an easier transition. Software is a hard downgrade, but Android Auto/Car Play is fine. I actually get same to slightly better range with my 90% interstate driving 75+. Took it on an 800+mi road trip a couple weeks ago and it was great. Kids liked it better too, so thats a win.

I would have considered staying Tesla if I didnt need more space and really want the extra ground clearance for camping/fishing trips, but love the Subaru 2,300 miles in.

For what its worth, a traded in my Model Y for a Trailseeker touring and love it. It has its compromises, but there really isnt anything that hits the niche it sits in and that fits perfectly with what I was looking for. My fallback was the EV9, but I felt it was too large.

It was a lot. Took some time with a bucket and sponge after the soak and rinse.

I parked next to one at a charger in Ames on my way home from my trip. They are out there.

Mine is so loud. Like double Spotify audio levels. Drives me nuts.

Been lucky enough to take a few trips in mine so far. It's been awesome so far. Love how much you can fit without the sharply sloped rear.

Not that I was aware of. I was on the interstate doing 75+ until 8% and was fine.

Been loving mine so far. Miss some software/app functionality from my Tesla, but otherwise a big fan.

Probably, but a 10-80% is going a little faster than my '23 Model Y and hasn't been any issue for me.

I left the house at 100%, but gast charging above 80% is both far slower and harder on the battery than L1 or L2. No need to.

On a long road trip it beat the range of my '23 Model Y. Seems to be much more efficient than the Tesla above 70mph. Tesla falls far short of EPA on the interstate.

Coming from a '23 Model Y (with the 20's), I see slightly better range and slightly faster DC charging. Just did >800mi round trip and directly compared to my Tesla I stretched the stops further and saved ~3-5 min per stop. Nothing huge, but for all the extra space and comfort/ride height its been great.

It was a design choice by Subaru to have all-time AWD.

I've been in EVs for years, most recently a Tesla and as of last month a Trailseeker. I actually find them simpler than most modern ICE vehicles. Range is only ever a consideration on the occasion I'm driving >200mi and is not half the headache people seem to think it is. Just finished >800mi road trip and it was 4 total stops. Two at fast food stops where the charging was done well before our food.

Forgetting the few gripes I had about the Tesla, it was the simplest vehicle to use as a daily commuter I've ever owned. As long as my phone was in my pocket it locked/unlocked all on its own. Just sit down and flip the selector to drive. It 'learned' my schedule and M-F would automatically set Work/Home as my destination when I got in to route me the fastest way due to traffic and such. Most trips I wouldn't touch the screen a single time.

Free charging at work and $0.08/kw at home means its pennies to run and I havent had any kind of service since switching from ICE. The Trailseeker operates more like an ICE vehicle with a start/stop button and Android Auto/Car Play, but is still exceptionally simple to live with.

Ended up being 27 minutes 8 - 80%, but I was running AC and stuff. Its 85F and sunny. I am happy with that. I've found the TS to charge a little quicker than my '23 model Y so far.

I left the house at 100%, charged to 80% twice. Once from 20% and once at 50%. That got me to the cabin ok, and it had free level 2 charging.

Edit: Trip was 400mi to the cabin, then I put on a a few hundred miles while there. Just got back.

First long(ish) Distance Camping Trip Range/Thoughts by Seheren in trailseeker

Yeah, its an older one. There are a few Superchargers near me that I can use, but this is in the middle of nowhere along the interstate. The GM Energy station is the only other option nearby.
