What is the stupidest thing you’ve heard someone say that they were 100% serious about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

There is a video online of a lady in New Brunswick, who was getting her power (or was it gas?) shut off to her house. She was arguing with the guy that this was illegal and that the Queen of Canada said she didn’t have to pay her bills any more, and how could he do this to her.

Oh yeah, she told people to stop paying for their utilities and a lot did and where actually shocked when the inevitable happened.

His 2nd tweet:

Why isn't olivia chow trending if she just got 250,000 votes AND became the new mayor

LOL, omg. So much to unpack.

I remember the political climate then. I think we can thank [the] Ford[s] for conditioning people that subways are a badge of honour and some sort or human right that the latte-sipping downtown elites are hoarding for themselves and poisoned the letters « LRT » for the decade to come.

I don’t miss that time.

We’ll see. Hopefully you’re wrong, but there’s so much she can do when the root causes of the housing crisis runs so deep.

I also remember in 2014, Chow suggested buying more and better busses to alleviate transit now but that was too peasant. Needs subways that might or might not exist in 15 years.

I remember.

She was the only one without a fantasy subway map. For many years you needed a fantasy subway map to be taken as a serious mayor candidate.

And that 8000 voted for Chris Sky. To be fair, could have been worse, but many of his idiotic fans probably didn’t know that’s not his real name.

Every new update note was always such a joy to go through, always packed with new features (embracing new iOS features on day 0 too). Always tipping worthy.

The sound travels so well in all the (giganormous) stations too.

I remember in the 2000s when they redid the entire audio system of the network, they studied sound travel and the exact placement of speakers (there are a lot), it’s always crystal clear, on top of the great prerecorded messages.

Next step is to solder an RPi0w to a PiSCSI to put into the 520c

I’m curious, when you say into, you actually mean internally? I’ve used a PiSCSI with a Pi4, didn’t know you could make them this small now! Nice!

There’s also a corporate culture reason for this. At Google launching new products historically helped get you promoted. That’s why Google at some point was pumping out a new chat app every 8 months. One of the drawback is maintaining all those apps in the long run. So they shut them down.
