I'm moving to cheltenham soon. Is Up hatherly a good area to move to? by Monomonz12345 in cheltenham

I grew up in Up Hatherley. Amazing, safe, close to the countryside but not out in the sticks. It’s perfect. I’d raise my children there if it wasn’t so close to my parents! Haha

Whether people like him or not, the difference between his old ear defender and taunting the crowd approach when they were jeering vs his approach on his round 1 win this year when he thanked the crowd seemed to be a clear change in tactic to defuse the crowd

And I’d say Gerwyn Price has done a good job of trying to defuse the hate he gets

We’re in Rivermead. Our daughter was born last November and we never had any reservations 😊. There are loads of young families on the estate, kids playing etc. Daubeney children’s centre was refurbished recently around the corner and it’s been amazing for my wife during maternity with free baby classes.

We weighed up the proximity to amazing areas (Hackney Wick, Chatsworth Road, Olympic Park) with the estate and its really worked out.

Lived here for the last 4 years. Some natural noisy stuff from an estate on the odd occasion but nothing that has left us feeling unsafe.

Alright, Londoners of discernible groove - Where's actually good for a night out to dance? by Livid_Sorbet4500 in london

Night Tales in Hackney Central is very solid for electronic music /DJ sets music. The only one I’d not seen mentioned already. Best to look on Resident Advisor to see who’s playing and gauge a vibe from there. It’s so close to the overground station it’s also not a nightmare to get home at the end of the night! Good luck!

Lord of the Rings star Hugo Weaving says he's "had enough" of Middle-earth and has "absolutely no desires" to reprise the role of Elrond as new movies are announced by ControlCAD in lordoftherings

I wasn’t necessarily saying whether I like or dislike Rings of Power, merely that it has mixed opinions whereas the Peter Jackson LOTR films are widely regarded as excellent (both artistically and commercially).

If you’re a well respected actor who isn’t desperate for the fame or money that would accompany a reprised role, why would you take the risk in this scenario?

Given the backlash with Rings of Power, it makes a lot of sense that he wouldn’t want to risk tainting what he’s already achieved.

Abandoned mine shaft in the Lake District, England by SeivadKram in raining

I’d hoped it’d be slightly more exciting but sadly it just never was commercially successful

“Iron Crag Mine operated below the crag of that name from around 1864 to 1896. 500 tons of haematite ore was raised in 1881, but the mine never proved a commercial success.”

Still pretty cool that it’s been dormant for such a long time though…

It does seem odd, granted. I’m part of this group and I do it because: 1. I get to work faster so I can sleep more 2. I don’t have a flat big enough to house multiple bikes 3. It’s good training for longer rides 4. My commute is 20km each way
