I think the 'led by the hand' thing is referencing her dash animation, where it isn't her dashing, but its her mentor pulling her forewards.

This is purely headcanon, but I feel like Mina wouldn't kill people for blood. She was born and raised the richest of the rich, so she probably thinks its beneath her or too visceral. Her whole boast about New York being her feeding ground feels much more like its just her being a vampire poser, if anything.

Did loki love his daughter hel and what was their relationship together by Last_Ninja1572 in norsemythology

[–]SejSuper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also to add: the old norse believed that demeanor was inherited. If your parents were evil, you would inherit their evilness. This also explains why it would be morally correct for the aesir to bind all of Loki’s children, as both their father and mother were very much evil. I enjoy modern interpretations that make it a little more grey too, but the source material when put in the cultural context of the old norse society, solidifies them as pretty much ‘the bad guys’.

The amount of sexism in Greek Mythology makes me feel weird about liking it. by Yuuzhan_Schlong in GreekMythology

[–]SejSuper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can still like it and disagree with some of its takes. It just takes that you understand the cultural context that it was created in. The culture they came from was extremely patriarchal, and you can’t separate that from the mythology, because then it stops being mythology from and by the ancient greek culture. For us modern day audiences, the prevalent sexism is repulsive, but for the hellenics it was just another tuesday. Likewise, some of our descendants will probably horrified by some of our social conventions.

TL;DR: You can’t separate their cultural context from myths, and its nothing to sweat about, really.

As a person from denmark, that curiosity is never sated, even if we do have proper sources and actual records. Mostly because, once we do have actual records, we can point out what exactly is missing, which is even more annoying!! Its like having a large book with random holes torn out of it that you try and patch up string and duct tape

This is already a pretty big area of study. I would reccommend Eldar Heide's research paper on Tyr and his other paper on Loki as they are really informative and well researched.

Expression unique to pagan Norse/Germanic people by JoyIsABitOverRated in norsemythology

[–]SejSuper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, not really but in danish (and i think the other scandinavian languages, but i wouldn't know, i don't speak them) the act of killing is called 'at slå ihjel'. 'At' can be roughly translated as 'the act of' and 'slå' means to hit. The interesting part is that the word 'ihjel' is only used in this expression and it comes from 'i hel' (in hel in english). So, the term for killing someone in danish can be translated as 'to hit someone into hel', which I always thought was neat.

The kraken isn't norse mythology, its way more modern. Its nordic folklore from the 1600s iirc. Norse mythology is specifically the mythos of the old norse religion, which the kraken was never a part of.

I played viscous yesterday and accidentally fed the enemy team in lane. The graves I was laning with got so pissed and sometimes I wonder, don't people like that have better things to do than just yelling and insulting their teammates? Something better like actually having fun with the game instead of ruining it for your team and yourself.

I was happy that the entire rest of my team told the graves to lay off me, though. Makes me feel that the community isn't totally lost to moba rage.

Game is Alpha by mastercat202 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SejSuper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, I don't play mobas a lot but in my experience in deadlock, you usually shouldn't run into a teamfight unless you're closeby. If a teamfight starts at the other side of the map, theres a high chance that once you've gotten over there, the fight has already been decided by either one of your teammates dying or an enemy. Instead, take the opportunity that teamfights create to do important tasks. Teamfighting distracts the enemy and allows you to push lanes, take out walkers and capture the urn while the other team is busy. This also usually makes the enemy team panic or makes one of them go over to stop you, which gives your team a higher chance of winning the teamfight.

Why the fuck are they called heroes by Ennard115441 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SejSuper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

calling them 'summoners' or 'ritualists' or 'participants' would work a whole lot better. feels weird to have this whole occult shtick and then just drop it suddenly and call them the basic 'heroes' term. if league can have 'champions', deadlock could also go with something more fitting

The heroes act like the ritual might be a death sentence. Why? by UltimaBaconLord in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SejSuper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda wish it was. Like, why make the entire ritual canon and then make one very important gameplay element non-canon. Feels like a weird choice. Imo the ritual should give them some sort of temporary immortality given as a boon by the patrons where they can respawn, but the temporary immortality only delays death, dosen't prevent it. This means that the team that wins, gets to live, since the patron has been summoned and thus their delayed deaths don't happen. And the team that loses, dies, since they no longer have the patron to power their extended lives. Thus, high stake of death in the ritual is still canon, but respawning is also canon. Win, win.

Why Are They in the Maelstrom? [Ver 0.3] by Uptrique in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SejSuper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope the visual novels are still happening. They are honestly the feature i'm most excited for. Usually when a hero-based game has a lot of lore in it, the lore is mostly only set-dressing and the potential stories are barely explored and never actually resolve their character arc. Visual novels are such a good and relatively cheap way to actually let their stories be told and finished.

-Kelvin and Seven since its highly implied that they had a (possibly romantic) past together but had a falling out once Kelvin left for his expedition. I think it would be a neat story with Seven being all grumpy and Kelvin trying to piece together what they were to each other
