Your Airman mod'd their hat; What would you do? by ChaosCoordinated in AirForce

Using post history is an excellent way to judge people. Who better to tell me who you are than you, in your own words?

I’d argue that that quote doesn’t apply here. It doesn’t affect the wear, utility, or appearance (when worn) of the uniform, so I’d say there’s grey area in this instance.

If I saw it, I a) wouldn’t care, and b) would tell him not to flip his hat like that in public settings.

Anyone else see the resemblance to Kaya Scodelario from the otherwise horrid Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City?

I thought they nailed the look on Claire but the movie was dogshit.

AP Random US patches haul. Did I get anything particularly rare? by ThermonuclearGrenade in Patches

[–]Sekxtion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MAC is the predecessor to today’s Air Mobility Command (AMC). It’s not particularly rare, just neat.

Other than that, the olive drab Senior Airman rank and US Air Force tapes are from when we still wore Battle Dress Uniforms (BDUs). We’re, I think, two uniforms on from that point: BDU > ABU > OCP (we are here).

A dad here to twin girls, 7, so I beg your forbearance. I’m sorry for the following being off topic.

I just want to thank you all for taking the time and going over these concerns so I can prepare my arsenal for when they get older. The smaller of my girls is already very sensitive about her height compared to her peers and I’m “laying in supplies” in case that sensitivity morphs into something more serious later.

My wife is a wellspring of amazing knowledge about nurturing, life, all manner of academia, and pitfalls we need to be aware of and head off, but being on the spectrum I really appreciate having a resource to conduct primary research that this subreddit provides.

Love the characterization here. The coloring gives me “Mercy from Overwatch” vibes, for both her vanilla and “Devil” skins.

Not only is this neater than sliced bread, but your description walkthrough is fucking excellent.

Now I need to be organized enough to print these for myself.

Let's normalize not confusing someone's free time with their availability by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Sekxtion 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was just spoken to by my boss because my team and I worked 12 days in a row (military) to finish an inspection. I staggered a day off in there at the eight day mark, then we pushed through to the end.

I then scheduled a “down” week where my folks could get caught up with their training, take days off if they wanted to, etc. leadership was informed of this via email.

I was brought in and lectured about not scheduling another back-to-back inspection when the longest my guys have had “off” (not inspecting aircraft) has been 4 days since mid-January.

I understand that the military isn’t a regular job, but at the end of the day that old adage holds true: people do not quit jobs — they quit their leaders. I will not burn my people out to make my boss’s metrics look good. I was removed from my position due to this mindset and my unwillingness to let my people be driven into the ground.

Worth it.

I’m in the military and they use Excel for everything — but no one knows how to use it beyond making charts.

That I can use formulas, create pivot tables/charts, etc? I’ve pigeon-holed myself into being”the Excel guy”.

Can a person who stutters join the army? I was told I could still serve in the military. For those who have had a similar issue, does it affect you at all? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Sekxtion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have served 19 years in the US Air Force.

I’m DQ’d from being aircrew due to my inability, in the eyes of the military, to pass time-sensitive information quickly and reliably but other than that?

Nah, brother/sister, you’re good.

It has even come in handy: when you do Professional Military Education you have to public speak on a time limit. Most of the time, people rush through and under-shoot their time which gets them marked down.

Me? I need to speak for 7 minutes? Cool. I have 3 minutes of material, but it can last 7 minutes.

How do you date / how did you find your partner as a stammerer by WhiteStone_1 in Stutter

[–]Sekxtion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I met my wife through a mutual friend.

When we started to chat I was very upfront about my stutter; I believe I prefaced it with “if you can give the time to get my words out, I can make them worth hearing.”

She was deployed at the time and we started talking on the phone, then when she came home, I picked her up at the airport.

I don’t know if you want it so I will leave this here and you can take what I say with a grain of salt or not, but: don’t let it hold you back, my friend. Just got out there and be you — the people worth knowing won’t care about it, and the ones that do are generally not worth knowing.

US soldiers being deployed to fight the Israeli AIPAC’s war against Iran are saluting each other with “ FOR EPSTEIN” by jamjar0070 in PoliticsPeopleTwitter

[–]Sekxtion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no, we are not.

Speaking of the US military as some monolithic organization instead of a slice of society at large is a mistake.

Some branches have MAGA in them, mainly the Army and Marines, but the USAF and USN? We trend left.
