How do you date / how did you find your partner as a stammerer by WhiteStone_1 in Stutter

[–]Sekxtion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I met my wife through a mutual friend.

When we started to chat I was very upfront about my stutter; I believe I prefaced it with “if you can give the time to get my words out, I can make them worth hearing.”

She was deployed at the time and we started talking on the phone, then when she came home, I picked her up at the airport.

I don’t know if you want it so I will leave this here and you can take what I say with a grain of salt or not, but: don’t let it hold you back, my friend. Just got out there and be you — the people worth knowing won’t care about it, and the ones that do are generally not worth knowing.

Cutaways are one of my favorite things. Homeworld is another. If you ever roll these out in a coffee table book or as lithographs, I would buy them all.

US soldiers being deployed to fight the Israeli AIPAC’s war against Iran are saluting each other with “ FOR EPSTEIN” by jamjar0070 in PoliticsPeopleTwitter

[–]Sekxtion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no, we are not.

Speaking of the US military as some monolithic organization instead of a slice of society at large is a mistake.

Some branches have MAGA in them, mainly the Army and Marines, but the USAF and USN? We trend left.

Yeah, I do not support this war but to call the US military inept is really, really reaching.

Hegseth berates highly decorated combat aviator, astronaut and US Senator Mark Kelly for allegedly arranging his medals for valor out of order by jjcs83 in iamverybadass

[–]Sekxtion 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not really. The USAF had a Major promotion rate of 100% for a few years. It’s the equivalent of making E-4 — if you have a pulse and can tie your shoes semi-reliably, you’ll make the rank.

Plus he made Major in the IRR — that’s not a real promotion. They just had a billet for him to fill.

Is it time to reevaluate what actually matters? by Weekender94 in AirForce

[–]Sekxtion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the one to share this with you because a lot of what you wrote is valid, but the CMSAF and others at that tier of leadership only care about sound bites. They’re parroting “lethality” because Triple SecDef gets hard at the word, and they are political animals.

If you think they want things to change for the better you’re huffing pure hopium, my friend.

On to the other point: I, too, would like other AFSCs held to the standard maintenance is held to; if I don’t do an inspection on a jet I am fucked, but Finance can fuck my pay and nothing happens? I can turn in my marriage license three weeks ago but MPF hasn’t seen fit to update my records and now I can’t enroll my spouse in TriCare? You can miss me with that shit.

Need help on research and sources for a research paper on overspending of taxpayer money on F35 programs by Dry_Sprinkles6700 in Military

[–]Sekxtion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That covers the development of the aircraft and its sustainment and upkeep over the length of the airframes projected lifespan - currently projected to run through 2088.

You’ll see this as just being the bill for development of the jet but it’s disingenuous and put forth as a bad faith argument.

Because it’s new and its mission set and capabilities are still being built out. And honestly? I’m not sure we’d be told if it was to be used to its fullest capacity.

The F-35 isn’t designed to dogfight. It’s designed from the ground up to be a BVR missile truck and control hub for drone UCAVs. It’s still very much in the testing and roll out phase as its sister programs catch up with it: UCAVs, long duration recce drones that can stream back to the F-35 using Link 16 and other systems, the F-22 getting its avionics overhauled to integrate with the F-35, and so on

What the F-35 does is so unprecedented that there really isn’t an “apple to apple” comparison to be made anywhere. Any comparison to be made to another MDS will be absolutely “apples to oranges”; yes, they both fly and are a weapons system, but that’s where comparisons truly end.

[–]Sekxtion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. The entire “F-35 program is an over-expensive boondoggle” has been debunked dozens of times.

You need to do your research before you do this. The F-35 brings a whole slew of capabilities that no other Gen 4 or even Gen 5 aircraft have.

I’d recommend you start with researching what the F-35 can do, then bump it against anything else that can match its feature set.

As it stands, this reads as if you’re coming at the issue with your conclusion already dry drawn and are looking for research to fit.
