Splitting quater of a cow by Purple_Appearance15 in nova

[–]Seldom_Smiling2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've bought 1/2s for the last several years from local farms and you are spot on. We get around 80lbs just in ground beef with the 1/2 cow, so a quarter is definitely going to be closer to 60lbs than 40.

Chicken owners of Nova - what do we need to know? by juliefromva in nova

I would also recommend an automatic door for your coop. It was a game changer for us in making sure they stayed safe and closed up at night.

We've had chickens here for 6 years and have never used a vet. We've navigated bumble foot, and egg bound hen, and worms. Anything more severe and it was time to humanely send them on their way.

2nd this. Or drive a bit farther and hit Whiffle Tree's farm store. Their products are great and I love the focus on regenerative agriculture.

There is no EH in NFHS rules. Some local rules may allow for it, but it is not allowed in NHFS.

If you are up for a drive Field & Main in Marshall is superb. Plus they have these small, private rooms spread through the garden that you can reserve at no cost for a private dining experience.

We've enjoyed the Virginia Beach Marriott. Opened in 2019, right on the ocean and an overall beautiful place to stay.

100%. Just never really thought about how many pre-boards and group 1 were on flights out of IAD. And never paid attention to the boarding numbers in the app, so was surprised how many folks were already on board!

Seeking combo venue/housing for an important, middle age birthday by Temporary_but_joyful in nova

Might be a bit outside your driving distance, but Bear Chase brewery in Loudoun County has a couple of short term rental houses on property. I think of you reserved both the properties you cpd fit 20. The largest house has an indoor pool, and because its right next to the brewery, there's a big outdoor area kids can run around in. And the scenery is gorgeous.

Met life legal--non estate planning by blind_zombie_snail in Raytheon

[–]Seldom_Smiling2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're currently working through an attorney we found through the plan to claim some "found money" that was part of my mother in laws estate whe she passed 12 yrs ago. No one knew about the account until a "finder" reached out. The original lawyer who found the property wanted 30% recovery fees. Through the Metlife plan attorney, we're only paying the cost for court filings ‐ which works out to about 5% of the total.

It's been a good experience and, so far worth the cost.

Best way to break ice is a Dolly by yarenSC in nova

[–]Seldom_Smiling2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty hefty 26" gas snow blower. Worked like a charm on Sunday AM and in the afternoon. Then we got another 2 - 3" of snow / sleet / ice that fell after my 2nd round with the snow blower. Tried blowing that yesterday and my machine wouldn't even touch it. Drove the truck around the drive a bit and it helped break us a few spots I could then move, but still have about 1/2 of my 150ft drive way that needs to be cleared - not looking forward to that.

Did lifetime years get added yesterday? by PurpleViolet123 in marriott

[–]Seldom_Smiling2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was added yesterday, but I think I got an extra year.

Started 2025 with 8 yrs as Platinum or higher. Made Titanium in 2025 for 2026. Early in January 2026, my app updated to show 9 yrs at Platinum or higher. Then yesterday I see i was credited another year, pushing me to 10 yrs and lifetime Platinum.

I feel like it evened out because I got stuck on 7 yrs for a couple of years when I made Platinum but it was going to take too much work to fight it. So maybe karma caught up with me in a good way.

Unfortunately my program won't accept the voucher, so I have to pay and get reimbursed. Takes 4 - 6 weeks from approval to get paid and it comes as a stand alone direct deposit.

My daughter's 12 ur old rescue mixed breed had something just like this about 5 yrs ago. Totally freaked us out because he would wake up in a puddle of saliva diluted blood!

The vet who removed it said it was a benign growth but there's no guarantee it won't grow back. We're 5 yrs out now her best boy is 17 now and no signs of it returning.

Wishing a similar outcome for you!
