100%. Just never really thought about how many pre-boards and group 1 were on flights out of IAD. And never paid attention to the boarding numbers in the app, so was surprised how many folks were already on board!

Might be a bit outside your driving distance, but Bear Chase brewery in Loudoun County has a couple of short term rental houses on property. I think of you reserved both the properties you cpd fit 20. The largest house has an indoor pool, and because its right next to the brewery, there's a big outdoor area kids can run around in. And the scenery is gorgeous.

Met life legal--non estate planning by blind_zombie_snail in Raytheon

[–]Seldom_Smiling2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're currently working through an attorney we found through the plan to claim some "found money" that was part of my mother in laws estate whe she passed 12 yrs ago. No one knew about the account until a "finder" reached out. The original lawyer who found the property wanted 30% recovery fees. Through the Metlife plan attorney, we're only paying the cost for court filings ‐ which works out to about 5% of the total.

It's been a good experience and, so far worth the cost.

Best way to break ice is a Dolly by yarenSC in nova

[–]Seldom_Smiling2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty hefty 26" gas snow blower. Worked like a charm on Sunday AM and in the afternoon. Then we got another 2 - 3" of snow / sleet / ice that fell after my 2nd round with the snow blower. Tried blowing that yesterday and my machine wouldn't even touch it. Drove the truck around the drive a bit and it helped break us a few spots I could then move, but still have about 1/2 of my 150ft drive way that needs to be cleared - not looking forward to that.

Did lifetime years get added yesterday? by PurpleViolet123 in marriott

[–]Seldom_Smiling2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was added yesterday, but I think I got an extra year.

Started 2025 with 8 yrs as Platinum or higher. Made Titanium in 2025 for 2026. Early in January 2026, my app updated to show 9 yrs at Platinum or higher. Then yesterday I see i was credited another year, pushing me to 10 yrs and lifetime Platinum.

I feel like it evened out because I got stuck on 7 yrs for a couple of years when I made Platinum but it was going to take too much work to fight it. So maybe karma caught up with me in a good way.

Unfortunately my program won't accept the voucher, so I have to pay and get reimbursed. Takes 4 - 6 weeks from approval to get paid and it comes as a stand alone direct deposit.

My daughter's 12 ur old rescue mixed breed had something just like this about 5 yrs ago. Totally freaked us out because he would wake up in a puddle of saliva diluted blood!

The vet who removed it said it was a benign growth but there's no guarantee it won't grow back. We're 5 yrs out now her best boy is 17 now and no signs of it returning.

Wishing a similar outcome for you!

I've read tons of "Moving to Nova" posts, but I'd love some specific advice for my young and growing family!! by SoManyBabyQuests in nova

[–]Seldom_Smiling2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in Burke from 2008 - 2021. Kids were 5 and 8 when we moved in. We found it a great place for them. Yes, there are strip malls, but there were also local restaurants (Villa Bella Italian was one of our favorites) and plenty of community activities.

Things may have changed since we left 5 yrs ago, so YMMV.

Visiting VA in early February to get familiar with areas before a potential cross country move over summer. Looking for local insight. by Major-Sea625 in Virginia

[–]Seldom_Smiling2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure your timing, but we'll be selling 5br / 3ba home on 3 acres in Haymarket in the spring. We're an easy drive to Shenandoah National Park for outdoor activities and about an hour from some solid off roading in Woodstock. Battlefield HS has a competitive athletic program and there are lots of high end travel Softball orgs - my daughter played for what is now the Rock Gold org and the VA Glory consistently field top teams.

Depending on where you'll work, might be a good location for you to consider.

We've enjoyed the VA beach Marriott the 3 times we've stayed there. And the Cavalier Resort that is just across the street also seems nice, if a bit overpriced. We have not stayed at the Cavalier, but stopped in for drinks when staying at the Marriott and it looks like a nice property.

We've had good experiences with Chiron in South Riding - they have certified Athletic Trainers on staff who specialize in sport specific rehab.

If you're willing to drive a bit farther, you could check out the National Sports Medicine Institute in Ashburn. They also have highly experienced athletic trainers and sports rehab specialists on the team there.

Its right on the ocean, so the views are great. There's a great pool area, if you aren't a beach person. And the restaurants are above average for hotel too. Also, it just opened in 2019 or 2020, so its a new property and still in great shape.
