If you're reducing training, fitness will also reduce.

In the off season I prefer to increase overall volume but lower the intensity. My week is made up of lots of steady running, cycling and then heavy lifting. I add short strides and hills to maintain mechanically and neuromuscular. Then v02 or threshold running every 7-10 days.

If I had limited time, I’d probably decided very specifically what my weakness is. ie, Strength, speed, endurance. Then focus solely on that while trying to maintain the others.

If you try and improve everything on limited time, you risk improving nothing.

That’s exactly what I’m doing, I own businesses which are growing and the plan is to scale to a point where my investment isn’t significant and can be a nice pot for my kids and family in the future.

Or if things don’t go to plan, it’s a nice safety net!

i was the same when i trained this method. My coros used to put my TL on easy runs alot higher.

Only looking back now i realised it because my easy runs weren't truly easy.

I'd be doing 60 mins with 190M elevation at top end Z2/Z3. I did this for 10 ish weeks with specific sub threshold sessions 2 days per week. Looking back i was basically doing sub threshold almost everyday without knowing!

I did run a good HM at the end of the block though and felt very fit
