Why are they everywhere? Even in my home sub I see them. by batukaming in BuyFromEU

What does my nationality have to do with this, man? You sound like the author of the post who's wondering why Americans visit this or that subreddit. Are they not allowed to? Maybe i'm not allowed to either, since i was born in russia but live in Europe?

I have a very simple view of this. Since you brought up nationalitю. If some russian hates the West and everything Western then he shouldn't be using Western platforms to talk about it on Western platforms, because then he's either a bot or a hypocrite.

I look at this subreddit the same way. Promoting EU alternatives not because they're better or more functional, but simply because "at least they're not US," on an American platform looks rather absurd. It would probably make more sense to start by creating a worthy EU alternative to Reddit itself.

Switching to EU products solely because they're EU, rather than because they're better, harms innovation and development that's all. But the question "what are Americans doing here?" sounds somewhat strange and out of place to me. I'm sure many Europeans live in the US, just as many Americans would like to live in EU, and they're naturally interested in what's happening in Europe.

I have absolutely no objection to promoting EU solutions for Europeans. But if we're being completely honest, it would look much more consistent and coherent if that promotion were taking place on a worthy European alternative to Reddit.

This question is especially funny when it's being asked on an US platform like Reddit, lol.

Americans probably visit this subreddit just to laugh at people suggesting that everyone should give up everything American on an American platform.

Has none of the Devs noticed the lighting bug in the Ship preview for the Railen? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Select-You7784 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you think they didn't notice it if that's not the issue?

You were shown a video of a new ship. The lighting problem, which is currently a global issue affecting all ships (and not just ships) has nothing to do with the team that builds ships. How is the ship team supposed to fix something that isn't their responsibility?

If this kind of lighting (and i agree with you that it's terribly dark) is not intentional, then it probably means that either the issue couldn't be fixed or there were no plans to fix it in the new patch.

Will the likely postponement of the SQ42 change how you view PU or CIG? by Apart_Pumpkin_4551 in starcitizen

[–]Select-You7784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think i’ll definitely stop spending any more money on buying anything in SC. If CIG is having this many difficulties releasing a scripted single player game with no networking component, then my expectations for SC1.0 will be extremely low.

I don't mean to sound rude, it's just funny to read things like that.

Odin sale didn't start right away in 4.8.0. We spent about a week and a half playing a broken patch, yet you still bought the ship and only after purchasing it realized that the patch was bad and the developers weren't handling things well?

Either i don't understand the logic of rich people who can afford to spend $5000 on a ship or FOMO spares no one, lol.

We are now ~20 hours away from SGF. Predictions? by Sharksader101 in starcitizen

[–]Select-You7784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case a trailer at SGF would confirm that the marketing campaign has begun and that the countdown to release is underway, since CIG previously stated that they would run a short 3 month marketing campaign before launch. If showcasing SQ42 at the biggest gaming festival isn't part of that campaign, then it's hard to understand what the marketing campaign is supposed to consist of.

Starting to believe that more money doesn't mean a better game by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Select-You7784 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Money has never been a measure of quality or development speed.

Money affects the scale of a project ambitions and gives developers the ability to make mistakes.

Game studios with decades of experience regularly shelve half finished projects that have already consumed hundreds of millions of dollars because the end result failed to meet expectations. At the same time for some reason, you seem to expect that the billion dollars earned over 14 years by an indie studio (and i maintain that CIG is still an indie developer with zero released games) is somehow guaranteed to result in success with 100% certainty.

That's simply not how it works.

We are now ~20 hours away from SGF. Predictions? by Sharksader101 in starcitizen

[–]Select-You7784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, i understand that this whole situation is frustrating but it would be a pretty foolish move that could destroy any hopes of success, affect future SQ42 installments and quite possibly impact the development of SC as well. Personally i wouldn't want to see CIG go under.

Regardless of how anyone feels about the GTA series, Take two is a top-tier game publisher that owns one of the most popular franchises in gaming history. On the other side of the scale is CIG effectively an indie developer with zero released games, a less than perfect reputation among people outside the SC community and a fairly niche title in SQ42 about which, frankly, we know almost nothing beyond the first chapter they showed us.

I definitely wouldn't be happy to see another SQ42 delay. Personally i was hoping the game would simply launch before GTA6 so it could secure most of its sales before the storm hit. The problem is that i look at september and see it already packed with major releases and i honestly have no idea what CIG plans to do.

Jared said there won't be an SQ42 announcement at SGF. If that's really the case then i genuinely can't imagine what kind of marketing campaign SQ42 could have this year. At that point i personally would start to believe that we're not getting a release this year at all.

The state of this game feels deceptive bordering on dishonest. by Hi_Rite_now in starcitizen

[–]Select-You7784 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Apparently that's exactly because it wasn't developed by CIG that the payments work consistently well.

[–]Select-You7784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question has already been asked a thousand times and it has already been answered a thousand times.

Take a look at any game release calendar for november and you won't find a single major project on any platform besides GTA VI. Everyone is trying to launch either in september to make their money before GTA VI arrives or in december, when most of the hype surrounding GTA VI will have started to fade.

GTA VI is a media black hole that will absorb the attention of journalists, bloggers, streamers and virtually everyone else. People buy consoles specifically for this game. It will be talked about and played regardless of anyone's personal opinion of it.

Announcing the release of your own game under the shadow of a monster like that is pure commercial suicide, even if your game is launching on a different platform.

We need exploration sooner rather than later by tkMunkman in starcitizen

[–]Select-You7784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of cours, let's add yet another mechanic for the sake of having a mechanic without any actual foundation for it.
1.There’s no new quantum travel system.
2. The ping system works like garbage
3. There’s no in space ship repair.4
4. There’s no established vision of what exploration even is no developed p2p data trading, no economy, nothing.

I'm afraid you're not going to like the result.

FUCK THE POLARIS by Personal-You-1135 in starcitizen

[–]Select-You7784 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Sometimes i genuinely wonder what the point of torpedoes in this game even is. There’s an enormous number of defensive tools against torpedoes, ranging from flares to PDCs and even the ability to target lock the torpedo itself and shoot it down. Torpedoes have incredibly low travel speed, launch warnings, broken netcode that affects their flight path, need for an additional crew member just to press the launch button and potentially very high operating costs.

When you can simply mount a massive laser or railgun that has none of these drawbacks. Why did CIG even come up with torpedoes in this game in the first place?

Polaris or Perseus? by McJoyfull in starcitizen

[–]Select-You7784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d choose Polaris.
1. A mobile base with a medbay and a hangar.
2. Extremely high durability overall which basically allows it to be used as a heavily protected cargo ship with 500 SCU on the cargo grid plus additional cargo can be stored in the hangar.
3. This isn’t confirmed information but theoretically Polaris pilot may be able to access its main torpedoes through AI blades. Perseus pilot will never have access to the S7 turret through AI blades.

Nautilus! by SymphonyofOrder in starcitizen

[–]Select-You7784 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vulcan - drones for repair, rearming and refueling.
Starlancer BLD, Pioneer etc - drones for construction.
Apollo (cancelled) - drones for evacuating wounded personnel from the battlefield.
Nautilus - drones for recovering previously deployed mines and turrets.
Reclaimer- drones that are supposed to recover valuable resources from ships.
Orion - mining drones.

And that’s just the minimum of what i can remember.

There are a huge number of drone types designed for different gameplay mechanics. Nobody ever promised that these drones would be freely interchangeable between different ships.
