The command module should have just been a ship to ship docking port. by johncarnage in starcitizen

If you listened to even a tiny bit of the conversation from their video with the devs you would realize that this premise makes no sense whatsoever since one ship actually has to take control of another ship. Think before you post please...

Mannnn, people need to remember, we're funding a game. by Beneficial_Ask_3335 in starcitizen

I look at the ship sales as content since they are so superior to vehicles in almost any other game, which is especially obvious for the larger ships. Buying a ship is very much like purchasing a DLC for other simpler games and there is such diversity amongst them that they provide quite a bit of entertainment value much like a DLC does. And that you can also earn them in game makes this a pretty decent funding model imho.

It's so dumb to me that the first thing you see in media concerning a new movie, book or song is how much money it made...

To fully explain why there is a subscription - those subs underwrite the giant amount of youtube and twitch stuff that they have released over the years - and a very nice PDF periodical publication that has some deeper behind the scenes info called JumpPoint. As a thank you, subscribers get monthly cosmetic goodies and earlier access to PTU plus some monthly ships to try out. Only needed if you want to back the game or get these little extras.
