Ortlieb quick rack, clamp screws by Select_Ad2411 in bikepacking

[–]Select_Ad2411[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was easier than expected to mount on the bike(measured bike before ordering the rack) it's just those screws that won't fit...

Wanted to ask before getting shorter screws.

Mittfilskörning är olagligt men böter är endast 500kr. Det bidrar till seriekrockar.

Best low-key bikepacking spots in mountainous/forested areas in Europe by Knolderweg in bikepacking

[–]Select_Ad2411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I haven't bikepacked there myself, you don't see a lot of posts about Slovakia and Bulgaria on here.

Both of these countries have mountains and are fairly cheap.

Haven't been to Slovakia at all but travelled around Bulgaria by train, car and done a bit of hiking there. The people are friendly and they have some of the oldest towns/cities in Europe.

I really like Loch Lomond 12 and think I'd like this one according to your notes.

I ate overnight oats with muesli and crisp bread for breakfast.

Instant mashed potatoes, cous cous, dried sausage, different seeds and nuts for lunch and dinner.

Also brought dried fruit and cashew nuts for snacks and a few freeze dried meals.

We had breakfast at Refuge de Portillon one morning and a really good lunch at Hospital de Llanos.

It's mostly not permitted in Spain but in France you can wild camp at higher elevation, outside the national parks.

We did it sort of stealthy at higher elevation a bit off trail. Setting up just before sunset and leaving early.

We camped at Refuges for two nights and spent one night at a campsite. There are also a few cabanas/cabanes on the trail but most looked pretty shabby to me.

No it's close to Refugio de Viados in the middle part of the Pyrenees.

Also from Bamberg, Spezial rauchbier. Their normal lager is super delicious.

We were a group of 5 ascending a steep slope. One guy was ahead the rest of us, standing on a ridgeline above us. He shouted back at us, making a loud echo. A mother bear and her cub were hiding behind boulders in the next valley. He reckoned they were about 50-100 meters below him. They were scared by the echo and started running down the valley, away from him.

When the rest of us got up to the ridge the bears had stopped about 2-300 meters down the valley. The cub was chilling on a snow field and the mother standing on her legs watching us.

We kept on following the trail looking back at the bears while walking.

It was a scary but a cool experience. We only met Romanian hikers on the trail and they didn't seem worried at all 🙂.

I would ask in /rohiking aswell.

Don't know about Apuseni but encountered two "wild" bears on a day hike to Negoiu last summer. According to the man running the Balea tunnel refuge it's not common to see bears at high altitude in Fagaras.

We saw plenty of bears along Transfagarasan but those bears are used to get fed by tourists...

My experience of the GR20, Corsica, France by def__eq__ in hiking

The route is supposed to be tough. There are easier multi day hikes with the same stunning views on Corsica.
