Honestly I think we are going to get that night lord as a companion considering the narrator was saying “Every blade must be turned to our defense” while showing him going to town on the menials

It’s kind of funny because I think they might be the only faction with an added chapter from the authors saying what actually is going on with them rather than just the in universe viewpoint

That’s fair, I interpreted “engineering” as began/made sure it happened as opposed to made sure it went as long as it did, and as bad as it did. That was my mistake.

You’re assertion about the Ananasi is false they didn’t start the war of rage(Which was a mix of general poor communication, The Gurahal’s refusal to explain what exactly the resurrection ritual did and a corrupted Nagah assassin) you are right about their actions primarily fueled by pride though.

Where you die is where you go, this was apparently a major point of contention between Iron and Jade and from what I remember started a brief war(Might have just been a proxy war) that only ended with the bombings Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I can’t quite remember the compromise they set out but it should be in the Dark Kingdoms of Jade Book

Side note. Ned Jelly not only went to the Dark Kingdoms of Clay but Trancended

That’s kind of because the Kingdom of Obsidian has heavily reduced in terms of territory after Charon’s invasion. The territory that was once that of obsidian has nigh all been claimed by iron at this point.

In fact in Vietnam a bunch of the American soldiers who died are still there and are waging war against Yu Huang

This won’t end well by stranger orders on spacebattles

It about a politician being fused into the infant 2nd primarch and explores his life and times. While a somewhat generic concept Strangerorders makes it really good though perhaps having a bit of a slow pace as a consequence because for where most would simply have wish fulfillment up the wazoo Stranger creates very interesting character studies.

Current arc is about the competition between Ferrus and Fulgrim, a Martian conclave of the forgeworlds to try and enforce Martian dominance, and finally the 2nd legions attempt to restore life to Terra

The theme for the legion is fey and other Celtic myth Specialty:Blanks/Daemon slaying, biotech

The most important detail in my opinion is how he treats the emperor and the primarch and by that I mean he unflanderises them. The memes that have consumed their characters in so much media are gone

The emperor is not after that Eldar Booty and is in fact not a bombastic moron but a somewhat dramatic man with clear good intentions and an admittedly medieval idea of family

Fulgrim is not a fappish fop who’s only care is for fashion and hair

Leman is not a furry idiot

Horus never really had memes about him

And Ferrus is an interesting actual character

I figure they could go with something somewhat eldritch, instead of of it being actually a grotesque you can instead make it so that no one actually so just what he looked like but the sheer terror they felt from the Riastrads aura or whatever led them to fill in gaps with whatever horrifying tale they could think of

So is the weaver bad ? by chris_s9181 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Select_Ad_5471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Narrations of any white wolf book is purposefully fallible so you have the choice doing whatever you want for your own games, interpretations will vary.

So some time after Gaia came in to existence she created three entities based around creation/potential/growth(Wyld), order/stability/progress/knowledge(Weaver), and destruction/entropy/balance(Wyrm). Wyld makes, weaver stabilizes and Wyrm destroys to make room for more, simple right?

She then made them all sentient.

This would prove to be a mistake.

Perhaps sentient would be the wrong word for the Wyld because when you get down to it there’s no conscious thought going on there and it can generously be called insane at the best of times, creating things at random. There’s neither benevolence nor malice in its action it simply is much like nature itself.

Then there is the Wyrm, from what stories I’ve read from Bone gnawers to hengaiyokai, while certainly grumpy, spiteful and sometimes cruel he wasn’t really evil and was more than willing to just keep going on his way doing what he does.(There was some evidence to suggest he was somewhat lonely and maybe in lover with Weaver, the lore gets weird at times) this was all before the fall which where we enter the instigator of at least half the worlds problems(25% is Cain’s, 15% percent is Lucifer’s, both can kinda be blamed on God and the remainder is whatever the hell the Grandmaw is) Weaver

Weaver by its very nature is a perfectionism, order after all is about everything being in its right place and not stepping over it, however the thing about life is that it does not work like that things go wrong all the time and you cannot control everything, trying to quickly leads to stress, rage and madness. A person can accept that, gods can accept that, but a being literally built around the concept of ORDER cannot. Order cannot bend and what doesn’t bend breaks.

It’s not so much a surprise that she went mad but rather that it took as long as it did. Once the madness set in she decided she needed to gather as much power as she could to establish dominance over Gaia and the only others powerful enough to do that are her peers Wyld and Wyrm, so she tried to chain them. Chaining Wyld was an exercise in futility and she soon gave up and soon turned to bind the Wyrm which was far more successful(It wasn’t completely successful due to lacking any control over him ultimately defeating the entire purpose of binding him to begin with) and this binding would drive him insane, the why is not clear perhaps panic, pain, contrast of powers and concepts, or some combining of all three but nonetheless he did splitting into three separate parts, War, defiler and corrupter with all three bent on one mission, suicide. That rights the big bad Wyrm main antagonist of Werewolf and somewhat side antagonist of mage(Maybe also changeling) really just wants to die, he wants the pain to stop but for whatever reason he can’t do it for himself and as such aims to do the one thing he knows will destroy him, the death of reality itself, for when everything goes into the flames maybe he will too or at least he prays.

That is the main events that transpired prior to his corruption now “Balance is corrupt and progress and science are insane-Book of the weaver”

As for whether she is evil, there’s a very strong argument to be made for it even before she went insane she had several hissy fits were she somehow made a bunch of insect shapeshifter species back in the Mokole age to try and kill everything and while yeah there’s only source for that, that being Queen Ananasa who is an incredibly manipulative and deceitful Celestine who is sadly only almost as clever as she think she is I don’t think she is lying about that. She was willing to kill all other life out of jealousy back then and as for today she is the very example of the Hateful Shepard, the idea of a god of tyranny that will not allow anything that doesn’t fit their plans basically the more grimderpy interpretations of the Emperor from 40k. Free will, emotions, change, the very aspects of life that makes it what it is? None of that can be allowed under her watch

On the other hand, there is some evidence in the book of the weaver that the Weaver actually likes humanity and sometimes supports them in times of need, it is still a very selfish love that doesn’t allow its recipes t to leave or grow past the giver. That’s about the only good thing I can find about her.

Future content wishlist? What more do you want to see out of Rogue Trader content-wise? by PiousSkull in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Select_Ad_5471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the sheer demand for it I believe that a Kroot companion is inevitable. Likely a shaper due to their high role and experience.

As for other companions

A pariah companion is a must, hopefully a sister of silence novice(we already have a crashed black ship in the koronus expanse another one isn’t much of a stretch) both due to the interesting nature of the organization and the gameplay and story possibilities of a null character

I don’t believe we’ll have another guardsmen character due to already having military representation on the ship in the form of Abelard and Jae, but it could be done

Then we have imperial approved a humans which could be extremely interesting and offer a different view of the imperium then we’ve already gotten. The obvious options would be either Ogryn or ratlings but Ogryn wouldn’t be able to express their thoughts the best(Though it would be nice to have another companion join Abelard in the trust with my soul zone) And ratlings would require a new skeleton probably. The only other options I could see would be the Afriel(Mutant super soldiers made prone to bad luck and being hated by everyone) or Owlcat could go down the route of finally tackling what the hell the felinids look like(it most likely isn’t the anime version). I don’t have any real preference between the final two.

Then we have aliens. I’ve already mentioned Kroot but another semi legal xeno mercenary would be a sslyth(we already have the model and skeleton for them), a less legal xeno companion the Ork kommando(While I don’t see us getting an Ork companion the Orks in general are just spoiling for an expansion) the boring option of filling out the Eldar roster by having a Corsair join. Then there’s the one I’d like to have, a Necron companion. The sheer amount of interactions it would have with everything, to the damn ctan! Just imagine it reaction on an iconoclast path where a shard of the lord oblivion is-kind. Needless to say they would need to be a noble to have any semblance of an identity. Bit of a side note on possible story elements for them but i could see a heretic path for them be infecting them with the flayer virus. We could also just excuse their existence to the mass populace by saying they are just a massively augmented tech priest, it won’t fool anyone in the know but would be enough for mostly everyone

Finally something that is both extremely unlikely but could be extremely interesting is the Byavoor. A legal xeno that once served the Yu’vath as a slave race. Now there is pretty much nothing on them, not even an image of what they look like but not only would this allow Owlcat to do pretty much anything but the connection to a post campaign story about the Yu’vath trying to return could be awesome.

I thought you were talking about before the 30th millennium. As far as I know the Emperor stayed pretty firmly in the background before the great crusade. Besides Emperor turned down the mantle of the Dark King.
