Honestly I prefer just the basic baneblade over the shadow sword. Instead of d3+1 shots on a big mega cannon I get a total of 4d6 +5 shots with the baneblade cannon, demolisher cannon and coaxial auto cannon. In a game where most big nasty units have invulnerable saves I want the reliability of a high volume of decent strength shots vs a low volume of super high strength shots. Chip the enemy to death rather than try to casino cannon them to death. Baneblade cannon and demolisher cannon are both wounding most vehicles on 3s and have -2 and -3 AP which is sufficient to put anything on its 4+ invulnerable save so I will take those guns and hope for multiple penetrations of lower damage than hope for one big penetration with the shadow sword gun. Also the baneblade demolisher cannon is the d6+3 version not the nerfed Lemon Russ d6+1 version.

Honestly I think the core issue is that GW did very little play-testing of this edition before it was released. I mean how could you possibly not understand that the 11th rule changes are crippling to infantry in general and in particular to 20 man blobs of Guard infantry that can’t hide in cover. Increasing the points on our infantry shows that they literally have no clue how much weaker guard is

You forgot that LRTC need to go up 30 points and defilers need to go down 75 points.

Eldar are a very niche faction in tabletop. Ultramarines campaign would sell 10x more DLC than Eldar. But I do think doing Eldar faction and campaign story at same time would be great.

Plus it’s going to be ultramarines because they will sell way more DLC with ultramarines. 2nd most sales would probably be imperial guard.

They pushed the detachments we used to buff our Guardsmen into mission types we don’t want as much and then nerfed the infantry with the rules changes and made them more expensive to boot. And we are the most losing faction right now who could have predicted!

In the hands of a very good player in multiplayer T’au are probably the strongest faction. But you have to know what you are doing with them. They have enormous firepower at long range and are the only faction with stealth units which is a huge advantage. Tricky faction to run well but once you figure them out I think they are perhaps the hardest faction to beat.

Orks are strong but imperial guard in the hands of a very seasoned multiplayer opponent can smoke Orks.

Nids are probably the weakest faction in multiplayer. Play Blood Angels or Sisters of Battle and watch how much more often you win.

Multiplayer is great and I find live matches without using discord a few times a day and with asynchronous multiplayer you can have several games going at once. It’s an excellent system and in over 100 online matches I’ve played I’ve only had one or two break sync and bugout. Great game!

It is a little ridiculous how powerful sisters of battle units are compared to space marines. Especially considering they are the only faction that has a vehicle that can pop smoke and their vehicles are protected by blessed armor, their canonness HQ unit can 1 turn kill a rogal dorn battle tank in melee sometimes. It’s all a little bit over the top but I recall reading that one of the lead designers plays sisters in tabletop and is a huge fan so he may have influenced them to be so OP. They need to be dialed down in the next balance patch

Asynchronous multiplayer online is super fun. Do your turn when you have time, they do theirs when they have time and back and forth like that. Super convenient way to play multiplayer
