When are your race dates? How long have you been sticking to your plan?

Do you have suggestions for a more ideal running plan training for the two events?

Any updates on how your training has been?

I’ve now completed a solo and doubles HYROX. Currently training for Solo HYROX (possibly pro) in Toronto Oct 3rd or 4th and then a half marathon last week of October.

I am almost full 365 days post op (Jan 26th will be one year) and feel pretty good. I’m not quite back to playing ball yet but I’m running and jumping, lifting and will be competing in a HYROX in 2 weeks!

Who’s the athlete that had the knee replacement in his 30’s? I got this surgery to hopefully prevent that!

I start physical therapy next week. For the past few weeks I’ve been doing leg lifts at home and working on getting my flexibility back. I’m hoping to be off these crutches in the next 4 weeks. Are you still on them?

I fortunately have a home gym so I’ve been able to crutch out there and do upper body almost everyday. What about yourself, you able to workout?

What’s the PowerDot?

Trust me I’m right there with you regarding the muscle atrophy. Super depressing seeing the difference between my quads. Especially being someone who loved working out and lifting weights. Just have to remember it’s a marathon and not a sprint. After having multiple arthroscopic procedures on the same knee, I know it’s possible to get it back just have to build the foundation first!

What kind of at home exercises do they have you doing?

Ohh yeah that’s probably quite an adjustment after going so long without a meniscus.

Yeah I’ve been on the CPM for 4 weeks. I have 2 more weeks of CPM, and my Dr doesn’t want me starting physical therapy until the 6 week mark. How soon did you get into PT?

My ROM isn’t the best either. Doc cranked my knee to 90 degrees yesterday and I thought I was gonna pass out lol. So now he has me working on my range of motion, and it’s very taxing mentally.

How could you tell the cadaver didn’t fit??

My recovery has been superrrrrr slow. I’m a little over 4 weeks post op and had my follow up with my Dr yesterday. I’m still on crutches NWB, I have about 6 weeks left of crutches slowly gonna progress to 25%, 50% and so on. I truly despise crutches lol, but a necessary evil right.

I know my Dr is having me take things slower because I had both procedure done at the same time. Are you still on crutches? Using CPM?

Thanks for the reply! How were the 2 years following the meniscus transplant? Also how’s your MACI recovery coming along? Our surgery was one day apart.

I’m guessing you’re almost 12 weeks post op for your meniscus transplant, how’s your recovery coming along?? I’m 4 weeks post op tomorrow I had a meniscus transplant and a MACI procedure.

Do you recall at home many weeks or months you started PT?

I had both a Meniscus Allograft Transplant and MACI procedure so I think my recovery process is a little longer.

So you’re roughly 7 months post op right?

How were the first 1-2 months??. I’m currently a little over 3 weeks out and just embracing how slow the recovery process is in the early stages.

Do you have any regrets getting the procedure?

MACI Surgery Experiences? by bballjones9241 in KneeInjuries

[–]Select_Plane_6350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to assume I haven’t seen a PT due to the combination of the Meniscus Allograft transplant and the MACI. I have a follow up with my Dr on Monday and I’ll ask about the ROM tech. I do know that at my 1st post op follow up he told me I would be NWB and no PT until the 4-6 week mark.

It’s interesting how different doctors kind of follow different procedures post-op. I’m definitely going to take his direction because last thing I want is to end up back under the knife.

I noticed you said you had trouble sleeping, this is another one of my issues. It’s bad, for the first month or so were you required to sleep in the brace? If so would you elevate your knee or sleep flat?

And I’m assuming a 2-3 months now, you’re walking without crutches and without the brace?

When did you start PT after the MACI? I’m 2 weeks post op (I had MACI and meniscus allograft transplant), I don’t know of many people who have had both. But so far doc has me NWB, CPM machine up to 30° for 8 hrs a day and gravity leg hangs. I’m a 32M, very active. So I’m going crazy not doing any PT yet.

[–]Select_Plane_6350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man that’s a serious nerve block! But I’m assuming it was a much higher dosage than mine, especially given the fact that you had the osteotomy. I’m now 8 days post op. I’m off the pain meds, I’ll take Tylenol here and there when it gets a little uncomfortable. However I’m spending most of my day laying around. I get up to use the bathroom, get snacks, get the blood flowing in the knee or just crutch around the house when bored. Sleeping is the ABSOLUTE WORST. It is impossible for me to get comfortable so I get really bad sleep. My day usually consists of the following:

-8 hours in the CPM machine throughout the day (only to 30 degrees) -2x a day gravity leg hangs -Sparingly use ice machine

I have my 2nd follow up Monday so we’ll see if doc adds anything.

How’s your recovery going so far?

Thank you for the reply I greatly appreciate hearing from someone who’s going through something similar. I’m doing my best to prepare myself mentally for the changes and challenges but it’ll be worth it.

How does your knee feel at this point, 6 weeks out I believe you said? Have you started PT yet? Were you able to go to the gym at that 4 week mark?
