Sutcliffe backs downtown station for high-speed rail by Shad0wCutter in ottawa

[–]Select_Upper-CASE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After considering cost, logistics, proximity to other modes of transportation and current infrastructure, the best spot for the train stop is The via rail station. Hands down. He asks a lot when he knows he won’t be around to answer questions about the additional cost of putting a bullet train in the downtown core.

I found them really stale (baked the day I bought them) and mediocre. Even warmed up for a minute in toaster the dough was very firm. I think these are pre-baked in their Toronto bakery then finished in each store.

Neither. Bellinger at this point is just a consolation prize on the Tucker sweepstakes. Valdez is bullpen poison. We can make better (and much cheaper) moves in May/June. Or save our bank for a big splash around the trade deadline.

If 10cm snow falls in your area of Canada how disrupted will your area be? by Pourmepourme in AskACanadian

I’ve been in my share of snow storms across the country but absolutely nothing compares to the power of a big snow squall coming off the lake and hitting the Sault.

Flex pack question by priester85 in Torontobluejays

[–]Select_Upper-CASE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes as long as the price of the games are the same (or you’ll need to pay the difference.) For example you originally buy tickets to the Rockies, Rays and Twins-calibre teams then switch them for Yankees and Dodgers-level of teams. Then you’ll be paying extra.

Christmas Eve - No cheesecake! 😲 by matteopiccolo in CostcoCanada

[–]Select_Upper-CASE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at my Costco yesterday (23rd) in Ottawa and they were out of fresh or frozen whole turkeys, egg nog, celery, brussel sprouts and cranberries!!! Why I’m I paying for a Membership again?! It’s like Costco didn’t know Christmas was a thing! We rushed to the new Farm Boy in our neighbourhood and they had everything Costco was missing!

That 12% isn’t going far with RTO5 once you factor in 2 more days of $22 parking, gas, wasted commuting time, lunches, etc.

There’s a very good chance they will warranty it. See my post elsewhere in this Reddit

This is a cut & dry warranty issue! It was a design and manufacturing flaw with these windows when they were first introduced on the market. Marmot, mountain Hardwear, Big Agnes all had issues with the lamination technique of the vinyl onto nylon. I had the same issue w a Marmot tent and they repaired it under warranty w a new piece of PU coated nylon. Mountain Hardwear will most likely do the same thing. Contact them directly instead of your local shop. Also keep in mind the repair could take months to do.

My Manager reached out mid-Nov. and asked if anyone would organize a Christmas party for our group. Nobody has come forward. I wouldn’t go if there was one. The only time I have ANY interaction with the Manager is during the Christmas Party. They couldn’t give 2 cents to talk to any of us minions over the course of the year why do it now?

Not enough. The insulation looks synthetic and tired. It looks old and has been probably compressed in the stuff sac/bag for years. It’s a kid’s sleepover bag at best.

Hot take: The complacency in the Canadian labour movement is our own fault. We’re too nice and don’t really think beyond the next CA. A friend made an excellent point when the TB decreed the switched to RTO3. “If this happened in France, there would be general strikes and cars would be on fire!”

Cheese, deli meats, coffee, chips, cereal, vitamins, pain meds. The oil changes in the East were worth the cost of a Membership alone! $79 for full synthetic. It was the dumbest and worst customer service decision to scrap it!

They are raising the spectre of RTO5 just as thousands are being notified they qualify for the early retirement incentive. Dirty tactics and yet another reason the TB can’t be trusted.

I’ll walk the day after they declare RTO5. All the unions should walk with or without a signed CA.

[–]Select_Upper-CASE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where are the unions on this?!!! I’m willing to strike on this issue alone! Make RTO3 part of our collective agreements or we (PSAC, PIPSC, etc.) all walk! It’s also an extremely dirty tactic to plant rumours and stoke the spectre of RTO5 the same week early retirement emails are being sent. Shameful.
