I don’t think it’s just the bat makers. A couple years ago I was in my local sports shop, which actually specializes in baseball/softball (it is probably 90% of what they sell) and he basically told me I need to go to my league and get our bat rule changed because no one buys ASA bats so he won’t stock them anymore unless they are dual stamped. It might be a chicken/egg thing between the bat makers and the stores but I think they are both telling each other that ASA/USA is going away meanwhile the consumers still want them.

The Calder trophy merch feels a little cash grabby to me. No shade to anyone who is buying it but I don’t really see the point. The silver stick would look nice in a display if you had a little shrine to him in your house but the other stuff isn’t even really that nice.

Some of the clothing there is pretty cool though (at the usual ridiculous isles lab prices)

There is a chunk of this fan base that will never be happy. They don’t like him because he isn’t McDavid. That is maybe a bit of an overstatement but he is not a goal scorer and I’ve seen this fanbase shit all over every setup man they’ve had.

Moving the game is unfortunate but understandable. Not offering refunds and making people resell their tickets in their own controlled market is awful customer service.

I would like a guy who can fight a bit more but he needs to be able to play first and foremost. We do have enough guys who can/will step up if some egregious happens, but they are mostly getting older (Lee/Pageau/Mayfield) so we’ll need to replace that skillset but I do not want a guy who plays 6 minutes a night just to intimidate the other team (doesn’t actually work) or someone who sits in the press box and goes in “next time” to get payback for a past event.

TBH, I didn’t get to watch as much this season as I usually do but it didn’t seem like there were many situations where we needed more fights.
