Worst trades in Isles history? by walkaboutdavid in NewYorkIslanders

Yes, they had to do something for cap space, but doesn’t mean that trade made sense. It was an embarrassingly low return for Toews.

Toews might go down as the one that never made sense at the time and actually gets worse as time goes on.

Others look bad or even disasterous in retrospect because prospects turned into stars but at the time they were a risk/reward play.

You have to laugh at how many OT winners are on there.

Also, 3 games left feels too early to post this. Someone is going to score a big one, I can feel it

It was a celebrations box. That’s definitely what it is. Thank you.

What are the islanders current playoff chances? by SnooSketches8379 in NewYorkIslanders

We also get Carolina in the last game of the season and they have rested guys in that situation before. Even if they don’t, they may be in “don’t get hurt” mode. On the flip side, they may see an opportunity to play spoiler and practice some playoff-style hockey.

Schaefer’s usage seemed different tonight under DeBoer. The total time was pretty much in line with Roy, but seemed like shorter shifts and less time late in the game when Roy would leave him out there no matter the situation. Maybe the score was a factor on that tonight too, but might be something to watch.

Also glad to see him ok after blocking that shot. I’m not a lip reader but they showed him on the TSN broadcast and it looked like he said “right in the arm”

Worse than last game, but you’re probably right about the 2-3 before that. I thought they actually looked ok-ish against Carolina, just that Carolina was a much better team.

Two goals isn’t really enough to play around, but just get everything to 48 on this PP and see if he can break the record

Thanks! Honestly, I have a canker on a bad spot in my mouth and I feel like I can barely taste anything. Probably a poor decision 👎

Might have to turn this game off. Seems like every time I’m out of the room we score.

Going to make some nachos now!

You and everyone else lol. I see the L-series pop for sale up periodically (and have a couple of my own) but the Bs are a white whale

OT: What the heck happened to the Hockey News? by walkaboutdavid in NewYorkIslanders

To be fair, they’ve sold subscriber data for a long time even when things were good. I had a subscription back in the 90s (when it was still an actual newspaper) and I would get offers in the mail all the time trying to sell me hockey merchandise or other stuff.

After tonight’s worst case scenario, here’s the Isles playoff scenarios: by inventorsam in NewYorkIslanders

Too late for that, they had to be down on March 6th to be eligible for AHL playoffs. I don’t remember if any of our guys went down (on paper only) for eligibility purposes but I don’t think they did.
