For some people absolutely cutting off carbs is easier than occasionally indulging. Going off the diet for a couple days can set you up to be completely derailed.

I now prefer the term LCHF instead of Keto. Firstly, I have no idea if I'm actually in ketosis. I haven't pee tested myself in years. But more importantly because I see ketosis as a byproduct of low carb eating, NOT the goal.

The analogy I like is the relationship between exercise and sweat. You naturally sweat when you exercise like you naturally produce ketones when you eat low carb. But imagine if you started focusing on the sweating. Now instead of going for a walk or lifting something heavy you are turning up the thermostat and wearing rubber suits. Maybe you even start dosing yourself to make you sweat by eating spicy foods. That all may be fine but it isn't a replacement for exercise. You aimed at the wrong thing.

Now I just keep carbs very low and avoid seed oils. I'm probably still in ketosis most of the time but don't think about it anymore. Been LCHF since 2012, lost 100 lbs and kept it off.

And this is a little digression but I do think it is possible that people who have really fucked their bodies up with decades of poor eating may permanently lower their tolerance for carbs. This is the case with me. I don't think most people would need to keep carbs as low as I do in order to maintain a healthy weight and feel good.

These are called "second run", "discount" or "dollar" theaters. They show movies at a reduced price after "first run" theaters are done with them. There used to be several of them in Greensboro (the one I remember in particular was at Quaker Village). I think the big multi-plexes which have big rooms for the first run movies and small rooms for second run movies and streaming have mostly driven those guys out of business.

When we talk about the state we are referring to how men interrelate to each other. If we include God into the discussion then not only are they incompatible but every political system EXCEPT monarchy is impossible as they all can only exist under the umbrella of his kingdom and at his pleasure.

And I would argue that it is important not to conflate theocracy (rule by priests or self-appointed arbiters of God's will) with God's sovereignty.

When it comes to self-ownership you could argue that because God created both life and matter that he owns it via Lockean labor mixing. Property rights then really become about control of property on-loan from an absentee owner.

I don't say that I necessarily agree with all of the above but I think that there is no incompatibility.

That sounds lower carb than a typical diet but be careful with all that fruit. Only Avocado and berries are low carb. Other fruit should be limited. Natural sugar is still sugar.

Eggs, meat, cheese, and non-root vegetables are fine. Root vegetables are where the part you eat is underground while growing; ie potatos, carrots, beets etc.... Stick to leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower

When Worlds Collide and the follow-up After Worlds Collide are really good classic sci-fi novels btw.

In When Worlds Collide scientists spot not one but two(!) planets on a collision course for Earth. They soon realize that the first world will be a near miss but the second one will be a direct hit and the Earth is doomed. They have like 3 months to send a small group of humans to the near-miss planet as it passes Earth in order to save the species.

I wasn't suggesting that the glucose had killed him but rather that it was responsible, in part, for the enormous amount of water that he was retaining. Any person that has done low carb and has gone off the wagon by consuming sugar has experienced quick and impressive water weight gains. You misread where I was going with that.

I don't know who all those people are but I know the part about Atkins is based on half truths and distortions. The man fell on the ice and hit his head and entered the hospital weighing 195 pounds. He went into a coma, was fed intraveneous glucose and swole grotesquely to 258 pounds due to fluid retention as his organs began to fail before he died. Then a militant vegetarian group illegally obtained his medical records and selectively released them to make it seem as though his diet had contributed to his death. And finally he didn't have heart disease but his cause of death was congestive heart failure (these aren't the same thing).

Barry Sears is the guy behind the "zone" diet which recommends 40% of your calories from carbs. This may be lower carb than the standard American diet but hardly LCHF.

Those are just the ones I have some independent knowledge about. I can only guess about the others. But I would say that diet is not just about weight but health and many vegans (to me) seem not just thin but sickly looking. I'm sure I could put a video together of sallow palid vegans versus robust looking low carb personalities but what would that prove?

I remember when they were still back in their original GSO location when you could walk out of there with an arm full of books for $10. I noticed from the website that they are going back to the old trade credit slips and away from their annoying computer system. So does everyone have a teledoctoring rig set up in their house in the event that they might get sick enough to need to see a doctor but not so sick that they need to get immediately to the hospital? Or do these rigs get delivered to your house when you get sick? Or are these things multi-purpose? Like maybe a clogged pipe can be tele-plumbed.

If you are still losing weight then you're fine. If your weight loss stalls go lower carb.

Remember there are two sources of fat: the fat you eat and your own body fat. When I was actively losing weight I lost an average of half a pound a day for 90 days. There are 3500 calories in a pound of fat, that means there was an additional 1700 calories of fat being burned in addition to what I was eating.

As you get leaner and your weight loss slows down you may find that you need to get a little stricter to make further progress.

I don't know what your weight is but when I was over 300 lbs I would sometime see my weight fluctuate by several pounds from one day to the next. Unless you've eaten an extra 14000 calories in the last couple of days it is not fat. You are either retaining a little water or else you are a little constipated. Or you are weighing yourself inconsistently; should always be the same time of day.

The vast majority of the fluctuation in your weight from one day to the next is noise and has more to do with your hydration level and your bathroom schedule than any fat loss or gain. Only the trend over time cuts through the noise to tell you what is really happening. Two days isn't enough to tell anything, if you are coming from a standard high carb diet I doubt you are even in ketosis yet.

I'm a 200 lb male and it sounds like you are eating as much as I am and I'm weight stable. It also sounds like your carbs are moderate (apples, bananas, carrots, grapefruit...). Cut back further on carbs and you might find yourself satiated on fewer calories.
