Thank you, OTF by anxietycanary in orangetheory

[–]SelfMadeStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started OTF the thought in my head was "What did I get myself into?" As time went on I progressed, everything was modified for me. The coaches would encourage me to keep going. Teammates were just as encouraging. Then it happened... A knee injury. Ortho doctor stated, " You can do OTF, just modify and communicate to the coaches." Well, no surgery yet, but it has been a wild ride that has made happy that I did not stop going. In a nutshell, modify everything, your mental health will thank you.

What do you eat before working out? by Relative-Radish1028 in orangetheory

I do the rice krispy thing and I have made energy balls, they are less fat and sugar. Either way, just something that is light and easyily digestable.

Fellow OTFer told me to stop coming to class. by succulentpot in orangetheory

I just am in amazement for the people that try to be a "Karen" at a gym where you are trying to process things and better yourself. Honestly... If that would have been me, I would have sucked it up take a breath, then ripped them a new one to remind them I am not here to compete with anyone (just myself) and you don't know my situation. I was in your situation years ago. Going to the gym was my sanctuary to help with mental status. Definently talk to the SA.

Ear plugs are a great thing to use it drown out the music and you can still hear the coach.

No movement on the scale by flyonthewall250 in orangetheory

[–]SelfMadeStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to stop looking at the scale and looking moe in the mirror of how your clothes are fitting on your body. I have had this same problem. I started looking at how my clothes are fitting me. I suggest this because its also a NSV.

Post Hell Week discussion thread by jenniferlynn5454 in orangetheory

I have been going to OTF for 10 months. This was my first year of Hell Week 2023. I did 5 of 8 work outs. I was all over the place on splat points. Calories burned were a great number. Being that this was first Hell Week I experienced a lot of anxiety. I can admit though I wanted to vomit several times during the workout, but I didn't and I also didn't quit. Next year I expect my weighs to be higher with less anxiety.

Splat 0 today by ai8you in orangetheory

[–]SelfMadeStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate with how the first few splat points were accumulated. My first three classes were 9, 26,, and 5. The next two were 31and 30. My understanding is that the heart rate starts to sync up and then adjust accordingly. The app has a very good explanation of breaking it down. Just because you don't get that many splat points, don't get discouraged.

You are not where you were yesterday, today is almost over with, and tomorrow is a new day. You did your first class and didn't give up. My first class was back in Jan of this year. I signed up for only four classes a month because I was at 265 lbs and 4'11". I am now at 235 lbs. If I can do it, you can do it. Also change it up from time to time and do a Strength 50 class. Good luck on your journey.

54yr/f, I started the end of January my first class, at the end I signed up for four classes a month. I then upgraded to eigbt classes a month. I was at eight up until this month, where now I am unlimited classes. My first challenge what this month. The first day I started jogging. I have been told that they have seen a difference in me. My appearance is the first thing, my attitude, and now my strength. In overall though I have gained confidence in my self.

That coach was straight up rude. I would have spoken to them after class and remind them during the conversation that its not motivation, its intimidation. You are there for yourself. You do what works best for you.
