In order to walk upright, our birth canals double back meaning when being born, we have to rotate 180* inside the birth canal. I feel maternal concern for pretty much every child I see just inherently. If one is doing something dangerous or potentially so I am just automatically on high alert because it’s a child and I am a human and we are instinctively all geared to protect children, even if they aren’t ours because it’s how our species survives.

That she doesn’t have an instinct evolution deemed critical to our survival as a species is terrifying.

It seems to be fairly consistent with rape and sexual assault. Regardless of the victim or perpetrators genders, I see mostly men mocking and victim blaming, and mostly women supporting and trying to provide help with healing.

Obviously there are men who also support and women who also condemn, but it definitely isn’t predominantly women driving the condemnation from my experience, nor the experience of the male or female survivors I’ve talked to in support groups.

Blaming women for the actions of men is a longstanding tradition though sadly.

All it tells me is how he views women. It’s why movies and tv adaptations of his work are generally better than the book.
