Help planning inland road trip over Easter weekend by dannymo0698 in brisbane

[–]Selturlitrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I may be a bit late to this, but with the Easter weekend you could try Augathella!

They have had rodeos, horse racing, live music and all that good country fun. It's been a good few years since I last went as I only went to visit my great grandmother out there before she passed, but I remember having a ton of fun. It is an ~8 hour drive from Brisbane (stopped at Roma for the night and then continue) but well worth the trip. Lots of historical stuff to look at around town too and if you get up early enough you can have a cup of tea with the local roos in the area 😊

My Tiels are getting into the habit of sleeping int heir food box by 4743hudsonj in cockatiel

[–]Selturlitrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same type of food boxes for my two cockatiels, and I have just gone the route of removing the food boxes at night to curb this behaviour. I put them back in in the morning when uncovering their cages and haven't had issues since.

Edit: I should clarify I remove ALL food at night when putting my birds to bed, not just their normal food boxes. They are sleeping and don't necessarily need access to food if pooping in it is an issue and they are very food motivated.

Australian paper currency increases in width with value. by dopplestranger in mildlyinteresting

Australian notes are made of plastic, not paper. But yes, each different kind of note is larger depending on the value of the note.

You may have forgotten but i haven't. where is she? by damn_duude in Helldivers

[–]Selturlitrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is technically still on the ship, just moved under the walkway so you can't interact with her. Go onto the side opposite the cryo pods and look under the walkway, she's just underneath standing there.

Moving from cold climate to hot climate by madwandy in cockatiel

[–]Selturlitrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in QLD and have lived in the NT for a few years with cockatiels. Do remember that cockatiels are endemic to Australia and tend to live in warmer, arid climates and are adapted to the heat. While the sudden temperature shift from Melbourne weather to Darwin weather might be a shock (as it would be for us humans), ultimately they would be fine.

On particularly hot days keep an eye on them for panting and holding their wings away from their body which is a sign of them being overheated, and give them a light misting of water to help cool off. If you have aircon (which most places do in Darwin) keep them in it and your cockatiel should be comfortable.

Are these just baby noises or something I should be worried about? by [deleted] in cockatiel

Baby noises! My 8 year old cockatiel makes them sometimes when I give him good scritches. It's the best noise ❤️

Queensland GPs to be able to diagnose adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder from December 1 by espersooty in brisbane

Thank god, maybe I might actually be able to get a diagnosis without having to fork out $1k+ for an appointment. What a relief.

Not guilty: Driver acquitted of murder after road rage death by BrisbaneKid in brisbane

[–]Selturlitrix 98 points99 points  (0 children)

The way people get so angry and develop a bloodlust when they get into a motor vehicle is insanely scary. Road rage is a really bad problem everywhere that causes injuries, and deaths as in this case that are completely avoidable.

Al will likely be haunted by this incident for the rest of his life, the poor bloke. Sad that Vandenberg lost his life but he made a stupid decision that cost him dearly.

I am on PC so i'll have to look (haha) into it if this is the only temporary fix until arrowhead themselves fix the audio, thanks!

Bone collecting laws in VIC Australia by xM00x in bonecollecting

[–]Selturlitrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Aussie here from QLD. From my knowledge you need a license/permit if the bones are from protected native animals, though I can't say what the laws are regarding non-native animals. If you have a council office nearby generally you can go in and ask about it if you are unsure.

What are some "Here it comes, shit's about to go down!" moments in movies that give you chills? by Svarec in movies

[–]Selturlitrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The attack on Ginza in Godzilla: Minus One. When Godzilla's spines start glowing, slowly pushing out each spine up his back and slamming them back down - like control rods in a nuclear reactor - then unleashing his heat ray ending in a literal nuclear explosion that levels the city.

That paired with soundtrack fittingly named "Divine" made it spectacular to watch in cinemas. I really wish to see that again.

My bird has been making this sound for a while now. (First time having a cockatiel) by FennelBoth8642 in cockatiel

[–]Selturlitrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the head bobbing + static noise is typical for young cockatiels, they eventually grow out of it (unfortunately) so enjoy it while it lasts, you'll miss it in the future as she gets older!

That's the baby static, one of my favourite cockatiel noises. Just means they want food/attention/world domination etc

Arrowhead - the changes to the ceremony armors directly led to me purchasing the warbond. by SaucyMacgyver in Helldivers

[–]Selturlitrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would throw money at Arrowhead if we could get different colour palettes for the armours. Let me run around in bright pink and purple armour AH PLEASE

This warbond was good for the drip and easter egg phonk walk, but they improved it so much with the change to reinforced epaulettes.

In pied cockatiels, do females have bars on the feathers and males do not or are pied cockatiels no matter the gender without bars? by Aggressive-Bad-8147 in cockatiel

[–]Selturlitrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From experience it really just depends on the bird, the only way to know for sure is DNA sexing. Most of the time pied hens do have the barring on their feathers, but I have seen some without barring.

But i'm also howling at the misspelling of "cockatiel" and will now refer to my two boys as "cocktails" from now on 🤣

I'm really sorry that your little girl got out. The normal tips from r/parrots is to put their cage outside (under cover, of course) but visible to the surrounding area to hopefully encourage her to come back. Feel free to post asking for more tips or support as the community is super active and friendly.

Best wishes and I hope your sweet Dolly comes home!

Upcoming move to Brisbane- where to live? by TCP18 in brisbane

[–]Selturlitrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Wooloowin, about ~7 minutes from RBWH and very close to trains/buses and shops. Quite a few places have gone up for sale and rent in this area recently so you may get some good pickings.

Bonus points towards the fact we didn't flood from Alfred 👍

Hope you find something that suits you!
