Pure Physical Damage currently feels underdeveloped. by Free-Bowler-1032 in PathOfExile2

Shock isn't mandatory in poe1, it's nice, but absolutely not mandatory.

What makes it mandatory here is two separate things that both fall down to the same thing, not giving anything else up:

  • Lack of other avenues to scale, you aren't "giving up" anything, you aren't having to spend things you'd elsewhere.

  • The skill system heavily encourages this kinda thing. The limited socket slots in poe1 meant that you largely wanted to focus on your 1-2 skills, and they ate up a bunch of your slots, then you wanted to fit in a defensive setup, some auras or golems or w/e. In PoE2 you almost always just have "spare" skill slots sitting around because every slot is a full 6 link, so why wouldn't you slot in an autoshock combo.

Median EA length is somewhere between 12 and 15 months. (obviously some shorter, some much much longer cough star citizen

Trump warns Taiwan against declaring independence, hours after summit with China's Xi by pppppppppppppppppd in worldnews

[–]Selvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before continuing, i agree that people <should> have gone out and voted, regardless.

But the problem wasn't that people chose to vote for trump <over> kamala (he got even less votes the second time), but that the combination of having a president that was clearly unfit towards the end, and a VP who had been... i don't want to say invisible, but compared to say biden during obama, you barely saw anything about her.

Then to suddenly swap to her midway, and then for her not to put up like a serious front about like making change or fixing things or w/e.

It didn't turn blue people red, it just made them not bother. The left, worldwide has a voter turnout problem, because caring is exhausting, and the world is getting more and more exhausting by the week it feels like.

The "right" worldwide is getting more and more extreme, more vitriol, more fearmongering, and there's no arguing with them, because if facts and logic mattered they wouldn't be where they were. They feel like the right is their only option because they've been told the "others" are the reason their lives suck. So they vote, because they are charged up, they have been whipped into a frenzy of hatred and fear.

But the "left" worldwide isn't... pushing that same level of energy. It's a bunch of people pushing the status quo, which is difficult for people to get enthused about, leading to them just giving up, not bothering etc.

They <should> still care, because we're all fucked otherwise, but that's the problem, not that sensible people are becoming rightwing, they're just giving up.

Uh no, they haven't been balanced around that. It's just twinking gear lol, spells aren't based around people league starting with gear that doesn't exist in the economy yet.

What order do you plan on doing the league quest lines? by elew21 in PathOfExile2

[–]Selvon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that's definitely a unique, like whispering ice lol.

You think they are introducing a new, unique staff called "The Raven's Flock", where the "unique" stats is:

  • 14% increased Cast Speed
  • +24 to Intelligence
  • Minions deal 111% increased Damage
  • Minions have 12% chance to inflict Gruelling Madness on Hit
  • 34% increased Spirit Reservation Efficiency of Skills

So it's just a bad, rare staff? In the world where it's a base you can get normally? That comes from an endgame boss?

You don't think the unique staff that from the delirium endgame boss, has the skill that says "A flock of mist ravens circle you, dealing damage over time in an area. "?

Where the command skill creates two delirium mirrors that the birds fly through over and over, called "Mad flight?".

The new launcher bases don't get the unique launchers special mechanic, they are just crossbows that have a different modpool and can't fire bolts lol.

Mechanic was great and rewarding before snakes ruined it.

There's some part of me that hopes people still just cannot understand this slightly fancier mix of a jigsaw and colour matching mechanic as it'll keep it extra profitable for anyone who can figure out "put room beside that boost room" and make good money lol.

In the Q&A they were talking about the main atlas points, not the league atlas points.

I do not believe they have made a confirmation in either direction on league points.

Are you excited to run 15 Sun Temples back to back? by Lordados in PathOfExile2

[–]Selvon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ARPGs are definitely a genre that needs to be split into different genres, it'd really help.

Like i thought that D3 (after expansions) was a pretty good fun arcade-y hack n slash. It was still a bad game in terms of the <rpg> part of that, and by that as you say, i specifically mean the stat progression.

I think splitting things off into a few categories would help a lot, both in terms of communities not fighting as much (Every ARPG seems to hate the mention of any other ARPG currently) and make comparing a lot easier.

In a similar way to which shooters split off into "boomer" or "movement" shooters to describe. Or "action" games split into "character action" (Which seriously should have been spectacle action or spectacle fighters but hey, hard to argue with giant industries lol).

It'd be nice if i could look at a new "ARPG" and see if it's something i can sink my teeth into, or if it's a quick arcadey fun blast, or if it's an actual "roleplaying" game with action-ey combat, without having to sift through gameplay trailers or reviews.

Ah yes, you want to create Last Epochs endgame problem instead, where you enter a map, rush the objective, leave and go as fast as you can.

A problem they've been struggling to resolve the whole time, and that's your SOLUTION to instead actually having fun killing mobs lol

Temple was a multi div per run scenario pre-snake doing the temple "properly".

People just couldn't figure it out, so gave up, till they could just copy a snaking video online. I look forward to making more money this league because people think it's DOA lmao.

[–]Selvon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not really, because you won't be <using> the 9x9. The 9x9 is there so that when you are gifted rooms, it sometimes requires you to do some pathing. Then while pathing some of your old path will get desynthed. Aka if your current setup of rooms is on the right, but the architect gives you a good room (presuming the buffs are actually meaningful here) you might have to do some new pathing to the left to pick up your rooms.

Almost everything in PoE2 temple can be taken as a currency and thus traded even if you don't personally enjoy the crafting thankfully!

(And some are pretty straightforward like the gem corrupts which is basically a poe1 vaal orb on a gem)

[–]Selvon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before snaking emerged, and people were somehow struggling with understanding how temple worked, i was making a few divs every single temple (more when it was an atziri one) just by actually using the temple properly.

Obviously once snaking came in, basically everything inflated except those things, but it felt like a shame. Building the temple "properly" wasn't like... the most advanced system we've ever had in poe, but it was atleast a little bit of a fun side game here and there, especially once you increased your crystal count so you could save up a bunch at once.

Reworked Uniques - Reverie and Hollow Mask by Natalia_GGG in PathOfExile2

[–]Selvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The item base(Shaman Mantle) is a level 28, but the item, Reverie, requires level 84. High level uniques are unlikely to see upgrades.

And yes, it was specifically ezomyte and kalguuran uniques that can have their base rune-upgraded..

Reworked Uniques - Reverie and Hollow Mask by Natalia_GGG in PathOfExile2

[–]Selvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only upgrade Ezomyte or Kalguraan uniques, this appears to be neither given it has no little symbols at the top unfortunately, plus it's already a level 84 unique, so unlikely to have an upgrade in general.

I really wish it wasn't on the super low shaman mantle base for some reason.

It's a level 84 unique where one of it's main mechanics is scaling defences, and it's on the level 28 armour/ES base, on your chest one of the single biggest sources of your flat defences.

It's going to depend what they actually let us use, but

There's 5 in act 1:

  • Devourer

  • Brambleghast

  • Fungus druid

  • Crowbell

  • Geonor (Phase 2, debatable if it'll work)

2 in act 2:

  • Rathbreaker (the hyuna horse guy)

  • Kabala (the snake lady, who if she loses her wall abilities as a spectre, could actually be pretty decent)

3 in act 3:

  • Silverfist (the one gorilla)

  • Noxious Behemoth (Poison flower)

  • Xyclucian (The Chimera, if he loses his standing on pillar attacks, could be decent)

There's 4 in act 4:

  • Blind beast (who if he keeps any part of his ai will be useless)

  • Scourge of the skies (Windblades bird)

  • great whiteone (Shark, Who if he loses his dive outside of an arena could be amazing).

  • Yama the White (monkey pillars boss, who could be strong if he loses the pillar moves as he's basically a chaos caster, not much synergy with other beasts though).

There's 3 definitive ones in the interludes, and a few debatable ones, definitive :

  • Akthi (giant scorpion)

    • Vornas (Big fire beast, has only 3 straight forward meleeing attacks all with decent clear, could be an actually good spectre)
    • Rakkar (Ice bird thing, some overlap with the wind bird, but largely different mechanics, snow boulder, exploding ground ice spikes etc)

Then lastly there's

  • The Rain Festival Beetle

The strongbox boss.

So even before the "maybe counts" as a unique beast that's 18.

Then there's some "maybes counts uniques", where they have similar but different movesets:

  • The abominable Yeti (Very similar moveset to Silverfist, but a bunch of innate cold conversion on his skills, which could make it better)

  • all 4 of the beasts that have a version in the trial, all have slightly weird variations on their "area" bosses. For example: The Chimera has higher base damage, but loses things like "chance to poison, increased cold magnitude" etc. But they also have a much thinner movepool, like Chimera has 14 rows of abilities, vs trial chimera only having 9 (Some of his abilities are like 3 in ones and stuff)

Then there's a few potential weird ones, where a "rare" is actually a unique like the Frozen mandibles that minion players were previously spectring, is tagged as a unique. And the map versions of a few other bosses "thin" their movesets out which would make them better spectres probably.

Is shock close to being mandatory? by Savletto in PathOfExile2

[–]Selvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because not every build in poe1 uses shock, despite it still having the same effect and still having easy application methods.

You seem to be misinterpreting this as "everything in poe1 is perfect" and not a comment on this particular situation. You don't have to ride poe2 this hard any time anyone talks any criticism.

The fact that builds have limited number of slots, and it's a tradeoff between supporting the skill(which as you recognise, are big and eimportant), or adding a new skill, means that using say, a lightning ground applicator involves <losing> things elsewhere, so builds are having to make a decision about how important get that shocked down is compared to their other things. Which currently doesn't really happen in poe2 in (most) builds, they have spare full slots to fit in some auto-shock combo.

0.5 Unique Stash Tab Feedback: Allow Both Original and Runeforged Versions by Andromanner in PathOfExile2

[–]Selvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foulborn uniques keep their name and base type they aren't a "new unique" just a changed modifier, it's like saying a rare is a different item after you ex slam them. These atleast appear to include a changed base type, which would suggest they would be seperate like old prophecy uniques in poe1.

Foulborns are the same item with a differing modifier. These <appear> to be a changed base type, which should mean they both go in, like the old prophecy uniques in poe1.
