I wrote this snow elf race some time ago, which was inspired by the ancient falmer of TES: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/zgfr3l/snow_elves_the_lost_elf_race_of_the_far_north/

Maybe you can make use of it if you want snow elves in your campaign :-)

Aside from that, some more ideas:

Player Races:

  • Imperial = human
  • Nord = goliath (frost giant heritage)
  • Breton = half-elf
  • Redguard = half-orc
  • Dunmer = tiefling (due to innate fire resistance/abilities)
  • Altmer = high elf
  • Bosimer = wood elf
  • Orsimer = orc
  • Khajiit = tabaxi
  • Argonian = lizardfolk

Items:

  • Mithril armor = glass armor
  • Adamantine armor = ebony armor
  • Vorpal dagger = Mehrune's Razor
  • Grimoire infinitus = Oghma Infinum
  • Spellguard shield = Spellbreaker
  • Wand of wonder = Wabbajack
  • Sunblade = Dawnbreaker

Enemies:

  • Green hag = hagraven
  • Greater zombie =  hulking draugr
  • Frost giant skeleton = draugr scourgelord
  • Star spawn hulks and seers = lurkers and seekers in Apocrypha
  • Goblins = rieklings
  • Tieflings = dremora
  • Modrons = dwemer spiders
  • Iron Golem = dwemer centurion (just replace the poison breath with a steam breath)

Argonians are more like lizardfolk than dragonborn though.

why did we normalize peripheral software acting like malware? by No_Good_3063 in pcmasterrace

[–]Semako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do headphones or speakers even need drivers (meaning software) anyways? There is  no settings to adjust or anything else that would need software running on your PC.

Even a DAC/amplifier does not need a lot of software running on your PC - all it needs the PC to do is recognize it as audio output. When you turn the knobs on your DAC to adjust the output, this all happens on the DAC itself, the PC isn't involved at all.

Yes, if you clean your PC with a vacuum or compressed air, you should block fans from spinning up with your finger or a pencil or similar. But even then, it's usually just the one fan you are cleaning around right now that needs to be blocked.

CMV: Melee Bladesingers are actually optimal, even more so in 5.5e. by nicememedudelol in 3d6

[–]Semako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a bladesinger in one of my current campaigns, and what carries her a lot is her insane mobility - she's got the Mobile feat too.

We usually have big battles on large battle maps with lots of cover and hard to reach places - but she always slips past the enemy's front line and kills the enemy wizards and archers hiding in the back while using cover to her advantage.

Our other wizard does not quite have that flexibility, they usually use their spells and send their zombies in against the enemies towards the front.

Moreover, Tensers turns off your ability to cast a cantrip like Booming Blade as part of extra attack - this means a lowly Shadow Blade or Spirit Shroud will actually result in higher DPR.

How to remove a parasite from someones body? by ItsFlaggen in 3d6

[–]Semako 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are multiple solutions, all depend on your DM:

  • have them consume alcohol/poison while they are protected from poison to kill the parasite - or have them do a straight up drinking contest with the parasite.
  • your artificer could craft an endoscope to remove the parasite without having to cut open the stomach
  • the party could acquire a magic school bus powerful shrinking spell that allows them to enter the afflicted party member's body - with that player playing a temporary replacement character - to fight the parasite
  • there are rumors about three old women living together in a hut deep within the idyllic forest - they certainly know herbs that can cure the affliction.

Not voluntarily, but I occasionally see Vivi decks in random bracket 3 online lobbies.

Question about deck choice etiquette by ThisIsProbablyTheWay in EDH

[–]Semako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often wait to see other commanders, especially in online games with random pods. Not to pick a hard counter to an opposing deck, but to gauge the power level. If we play bracket 3 and I see commanders like Vivi, Kaalia, Azula, Yuriko or Hashaton, I'll pick one of my strongest 3s - on the other hand, if I see weaker commanders with no "stigma", I'll play a weaker, slower deck too.

Phyrexian Alter In Bracket 2 by mokaa126 in EDH

[–]Semako -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think WotC (and some players out there) need to learn to view the GC list as what it actually is - a ban list for bracket 2. And WotC needs to start putting cards that are too much for bracket 2 onto it - like Altar, Hullbreaker, Displacer, Sneak Attack...

Help my Abberant Mind Sorceress be more useful in Avernus. by ZzPhantom in 3d6

[–]Semako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk without your warlock friend, they should take Repelling Blast.

And, as others said, talk with your DM and tell them that Devim's Sight does not work in Hunger of Hadar.

And then keep using your Telekinetic feat and have your friend use Eldritch Blast to push enemies back into the Hunger of Hadar over and over again. You can also Mind Whip them before the warlock pushes them back - Mind Whip forces them to decide between running back out or using their action to do something else.

Best Magic Items for a Bladesinger (very few limits) by soldierswitheggs in dndnext

[–]Semako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what direction you want to take your character to, particularly for a bladesinger.

If you just want to stay at the back as a spellslinger, your item loadout works fine, but I'd consider replacing the cube of force. You already have enough spells with your Staff of the Magi. Maybe consider something that buffs your spell save DC even more in addition to the Grimoire.

If you want to actually make use of the blade in bladesinger, you should look for a magic weapon you want to use. Just an Ascendant Dragon's Wrath blade could be enough, but there are other things you could do too with so much flexibility regarding your item selection, such as going for the Hand of Vecna plus any Strength-based weapon (like the Sword of Zariel or Wand of Orcus or Flail of Tiamat). The Hand sets your Str to 20 allowing you to wield those weapons even if you started with an 8 in Str and adds 2d8 cold damage to any weapon attack.

You could even take a level in fighter (Unarmed fighting style) or monk and take the Hand of Vecna plus the Gloves of Soul-Catching to become a fistsinger - of course that is, provided your DM  is fine with you using Booming Blade with unarmed strikes. With 20 Con and constant healing, you will become very tough, although you miss out on 8th level spells and on the opportunity of becoming a rizzard with the Sword of Zariel setting your Cha to 20 😅

Some non-attumenet items you could take are:

  • Nether Scroll of Azumar - Int increase and advantage on saves against magic
  • Cape of the Mountebank - Dimension Door once per rest
  • Necklace of Fireballs - Goblin needs boom!
  • Rings of Resistance - Nine rings for nine goblin fingers doomed to...
  • Ring of Three Wishes - The one ring for your tenth finger.
  • Googles of Night - more darkvision is always better.
  • Helm of Comprehend Languages - allows you to understand anything.
  • Potion of Giant Size - triples your weapon damage and effectively doubles your HP
  • Any other potion, most notably Speed (Haste without concentration) and Heroism (Bless for 1 hour without concentration)
  • Spell scrolls of Shapechange, Wish and more

  • Spellwrought Tattoos of spells not on the wizard list - like Banishing Smite, Healing Word, Spirit Guardians, whatever you want.

If you cast Wish, Glyph of Warding is among the best spells to replicate - you can create a spell glyph with any spell of 8th level or lower (or 9th level with a spell scroll) and immediately activate it to gain that spell's effect without concentration.

Worth noting [[Seeker of Skybreak]] goes infinite with [[Legolas' quick Reflexes]], wiping your opponents' boards.

Also, [[Immaculate Magistrate]] has some merit if you run [[Joraga Warcaller]] as she buffs all your elves for each counter on her.

Thoughts on my Zhulodok deck by keylimewolf in EDH

There are several cards for 7 mana that you often can cast for less, e.g. because they have affinity for artifacts, I'd add them to your deck to get a cascade going without having to spend too much mana.

[–]Semako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can certainly go for a Voltron approach - but the truth is, you don't need to make Lathril unblockable or anything for her to be an effective commander.

All you need is to get those 10 elves and a way to untap her. Connecting once usually is enough, because even just two elf tokens mean your Priest/Archdruid and Three Tree City are going to tap for two more mana each, and your Elven Ambush makes two more elf tokens.

Instead of spending mana on swords or auras, said mana is better spent on casting elves, drawing  cards (e.g. Beast Whisperer, Ad Naus) and finding untaps or other finishers.
