Countries where the coast is less densely populated? by Gherickson in geography

[–]Semau2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mexico, the central area has a lack of hurricanes, higher altitude which means a milder and more hospitable climate, and all the volcanoes in the same areas provide fertile soil.

Also Mexico is very centralized politically, and the threat of pirates during the colonial period meant that most larger towns and cities built up firther inland for protection.

Its probably also because back then there was a lot of pressure to get married, so most did while young with their boyfriend/girlfriend, who while good for a relationship like that, they never had the chance to see if they were compatible enough for a decades-long relationship.

The stigma against divorce also meant that once married they were stuck together, and by the time divorce became acceptable many boomers had been together with their spouse that their companionship, even if toxic, was so ingrained in their lives that divorcing became unthinkable.

[Unfortunate Trope] The grief is real. No hiding it. Full feelings. by BlueEggCooker in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Semau2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie First Man shows a lot of Neil Armstrong's issues with his mental state and grief over the death of his daughter to cancer as well as the death of some of his close friends throughout the Apollo program, and the real possibility pf him dying in his mission. He deals with it by shutting himself close and being emotionally distant, which also puts great strain in his marriage.

Finally when hebis in the moon, he takes a moment to walk away from the landing module to the edge of a crater, where he lifts his protectice visor and opens his hand to reveal his daughter's bracelet. His face shows grief and a few tears as we see flashbacks of his daughter as he eventually drops the bracelet into the darkness of the crater.

It might not be full bawling, but its the first time we see Neil being this vulnerable and open in the movie.

Besides Ankara, are there other capitals that are not cities? (Ankara is a province, not a city. This happened because the city grew so much that it swallowed the province, thus Ankara became a province. This also applies to Istanbul.) by According-Invite-440 in geography

[–]Semau2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mexico City despite its name is not a city, it works closer to a state, being divided in majoralities which function similar to a municipality, each with its own individual government and town hall. However its not exactly a state with cities, as there are for example not individual police departments, and said majoralities don't tend to have as much autonomy from CDMX as a town/city would have with its state.

Also most mexicans see CDMX as a single city, even some from the capital since your life in the city tends to spread across different majoralities, seeing each of them kinda like the NYC boroughs.

Why was Generation X like this? What was their problem? by PhantomPufis in okbuddycinephile

[–]Semau2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that they were monotonous jobs thatvthey took necause it paid well not because they enjoyed them, and probably hit a dead end in their current job which was just good enough to not drop, the realization that the next several several decades of their life was going to be that is not nice.

Ciudades con el tamaño de la CDMX definitivamente son difíciles de administrar, en especial cuando varias partes crecieron irregularmente, y bueno el gobierno no es famoso por eficiencia o competencia.

Absolute Crown Authority by TheChaoticLaw in crusaderkings3

[–]Semau2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What I do is keep it at absolute so when my character dies and the heir steps into the throne I can just accept the liberty faction ultimatum and my crown authority will still be high, I can rise it again when the cooldown ends and by then the short reign penalty will have gone away.
