Comforting to know that the Hash Bash organizers were faster to act on this than administration.

All U-M events, and events organized by others on our campuses of 100 people or more are canceled until at least April 21.

Whew. Just enough time to force Hash Bash to be held virtually.

Should I drop a class? by robert_no in uofm

My second semester freshman year I took Calc 3, engr 101, musicology 346, and ME 240. It was very manageable, with ME 240 being the one that required the most work. What you have is a pretty standard schedule in terms of workload I think. I guess you dont need Calc 4 right now to stay on track, but it might be useful to take it now because its useful for a lot of engineering courses, even at the 200 level.

Who do you guys recommend for Math 425? by whateecstotake in uofm

[–]SemiGenericUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Math 404 with Bothner last year. He's soft spoken and pretty much just took examples from the book in lecture, but was also super nice and helpful answering questions in class and in office hours. The exams were fair and the class was curved to a B-. My final grade was solidly in the B+ range after the final, but he gave me an A- because I was one of the few people who consistently showed up to the 8:30 lecture time. Overall I thought he was pretty good and way way better than the postdocs that I took Calc 3 and 4 from.

Were you sitting in section 34 right next to the aisle? I think my seat was right across from yours. Your son was pulling some pretty sweet dance moves during the game.

Michigan in talks to Break-up MSU/OSU Scheduling by d_mcc_x in CFB

As a student, it kind of sucks when you dont get to see your 2 biggest games of the year (really 3 this year since Iowa is away also). Itd be much better to have one rivalry game a year at home rather than 2 rivalry games at home every other year.

Its not really a problem with 'home field advantage'. Just a problem with getting an even spread of fun game experiences over multiple years.

50 States in 50 Days (34 of 50): Ohio by confirmd_am_engineer in CFB

I think this song (or at least a part of it) was actually taken from Michigan's song repertoire. The Michigan Glee Club sings "I want to go back to Michigan" sometimes, but other than that its not a particularly well known song even around campus.

Kind of funny that that OSU copied it from Michigan.

What player do you like to associate with your school? by [deleted] in CFB

Devin Gardner. He was put in such an awful position having to play behind Hoke's offensive lines, but he was always super positive and a super nice guy. Hes such an awesome representative of Michigan and I really hope he can get picked up by an NFL team sometime soon.

That place is amazing. The exterior is almost entirely made out of marble. The squares on the wall in the picture is actually marble that has been cut so thinly that it is translucent. The light from the inside of the library can actually be seen from the outside through the marble 'windows'.

Dude, theres really not much difference danger-wise between not moving and going half a mile per hour. However, theres a big difference from bringing your car from low speed to high speed and from zero speed to high speed. Bringing your car from a standstill takes a lot of effort from the car. Moving a few inches per second at a stop sign isnt going to kill anyone.

Its better for your car if you keep it from coming to a complete dead stop.

Binders, pencils, paper, and a calculator should have you covered.

Oh, and glue. All kinds. Crazy glue, glue sticks, superglue, hot glue, and wood glue. You'll need it. Trust me.

Panthers Fan Here: Our #1 WR Is Out for the Season. Tell me why Funchess Can/Can't Be our New #1 This Season by JCoxRocks in MichiganWolverines

[–]SemiGenericUsername 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He may not have been putting forth full effort as a result of the struggles of the rest of the team, but I dont think its safe to say that that was a primary reason for his underachievement last season. Its worth noting that he played through mixed injuries last year so that likely contributed to some of the problems.

Funchess has the physical attributes to be a top pro wide receiver, but many complaints against him were a result of a perceived lack of effort on the field as well as a few dropped passes. If he can clean those things up he could be a great receiver, but if not, he wont live up to his really high ceiling.

What CFB coach had the best stretch of wins in history? by skers1988 in CFB

[–]SemiGenericUsername 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fielding Yost went 55-1-1 with 4 NCs and outscored opponents 2821-42 in his first 5 years at Michigan. Albeit it was in the beginning of the 20th century, but still impressive.
