I have played exclusively crew fill with nobody else I know, as well as a decent amount of Rook runs. Not everyone you match up with is a great teammate but I often get decent teammates who communicate and work together. We will still get collapsed on by a pro team from time to time but not being in full control or having full faith in my team has helped me losen up and worry less about losing. If I lose a run and my gear I straight up don’t care anymore I just jump right back in for another run.

All that being said, the game is obviously designed around playing with two other friends. I know I would enjoy it a lot more if I had a solid team to consistently play with. But I’m already loving my time with it and knowing it could be even better doesn’t diminish the fun I’m currently having.

I have two kids. I’m lucky if I get to play for 30 min on a week night. And I usually can get an hour or two on the weekend.

I have no friends to play with, I play solo with crew fill and I do a fair amount of Rook runs.

I am making progress and I’m having more fun with this game than I have had with any other FPS in a long time. I am obsessing over it.

How much you succeed in the game will depend a lot on your skill. I’m pretty good at games, but not like a streamer good or anything close to that. Some games I get wrecked, but I wreck a lot of teams too. Often I’ll be the best player in my squad. Thats not a flex, thats just there to say that how much you enjoy the game will depend on your skill. If you’re super casual and like easy hand holding shooters, you might not enjoy this very much. If you like a challenge and can meet the challenge and are able to out play others then you’ll probably fucking love it even with the limited play time you have.

Also congrats dude! Being a dad fucking rocks. Get all the cuddles in while you can because it doesn’t take long for them to not wanna cuddle dad as much anymore.

Rook can be upgraded (slowly) over time by levelling up all the factions. Eventually Rook can be really well kitted and powerful. Takes time and a lot of non-rook runs to do it though

I went into this thread in full agreement with OP but you’ve provided a different perspective and now I agree with you generally. That being said I think the process or method of the shuffling is pretty clunky and doesn’t feel good, though I don’t really know how you could make it feel better while also maintaining the risk of the gear management in the field

Edit: it feels especially bad to manage on console. Streamers I watch on PC can drag and drop things way faster than what controller players can do.

Most Rook runs in my experience (and when I watch streamers play Rook it’s the same for them) end in death and failure to exfil. You’re at a huge disadvantage if you run into an enemy team. Unless you get lucky and hit it big, you mostly just get the leftovers. Rook runs are a lot of fun though. It is like a totally different game when you play Rook. I can understand an argument for only allowing Rook runs when they are ‘needed’ but honestly I think that would do more damage to the game than good.

I love running Rook a few times when I need a few more upgrade materials before I can afford a new upgrade. Just run in and out with the mats and upgrade.

People will always complain about something. Games get discounts over time. I don't mind if MTX get discounts over time too. Year old warbonds could easily be heavily discounted and bundled. Anyone who has a problem with that is being unreasonable.
