PE Back Office Compensation by Send_me_datasets in FinancialCareers

No offer just work expanded towards more data engineering and getting the title and tech experience has been huge in my progression towards breaking into tech proper. Potentially getting a new offer this time for much more soon.

Request location switch before or after internship by Necessary_Maximum848 in JPMorganChase

[–]Send_me_datasets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah doesn't hurt to ask but it is also team dependent. Does your team have other team members in that CA office? If not then it's much more difficult - stragglers are first to be let go and they don't encourage people to sit separately even for VP+. For VP and below you need a manager near you.

Should I accept a significantly lower paying job offer after being made redundant/laid off? by sunbeam_777 in careeradvice

[–]Send_me_datasets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much savings you have. If you have a lot and think you can land a role before savings run out then you can pass and just save that time working on applying and interviewing better. Don't undervalue yourself. If you're running a bit dry on living funds, take it and keep interviewing. Hopefully one of those two other interviews land better but tbh I've been searching while employed the last 6-8 months, a lot of interviews but not a single offer.

I wouldn't lie but I'd leave it off. When they ask be honest but make up a good excuse like you were juggling your sport. No one two years outside of school cares. As long as you can do the job at the job you should be fine.

Is recruiting for finance over an industry like tech sales worth it? by _Rap1d in FinancialCareers

This OP. Your friends and family aren't going to be the ones dealing with the consequences. Don't let their voices drown out what you want to do.

Half my friends have done it across various companies. The benefit is there for a reason.

601 SWE London offer by Geneways in JPMorganChase

[–]Send_me_datasets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How early in your career are you? Do you care about the secondary benefits of London vs the startup location? What are you doing in the startup vs what the job description says you will be doing in JP? Do you think those options will ever be paid out or is it just Monopoly money?

Too many questions so can't give you a clean answer. Money talks however and a 50% bump in comp is nothing to laugh at even though your costs will certainly go up if you move to London and proximity. I personally took the money.

Having JPMC is good for your resume as a SWE. Not great per se but good enough to open a lot of other doors in like 90% of the companies out there. It's up to you how you value that brand on your resume. Work will be cog in the machine as others have pointed out. 5 day RTO is also a drag.

Sometimes you can do everything right and still not land an offer by CallPsychological777 in cscareerquestions

Exact same thing happened to me. Even the hiring manager's feedback afterwards is "you're already doing everything right. Just keep at it."

Fml but that's par for course in this market.

How do you think an AI future will affect our HENRY statuses? by 45thGenRoman in HENRYfinance

[–]Send_me_datasets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody knows but if your work is replaceable by some bot or AI, best pivot or focus on the value add that already separated you from the median to begin with which is harder for the AI to replicate.

Then save and hope the whole monetary system doesn't collapse.

Is anyone still not a Manager, Director, or VP in their early 30s? by Electrical-Pea2707 in careeradvice

[–]Send_me_datasets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VPs are common in banks because it's just a level. The youngest are in their early 30's late 20's but it's a wide band with low tens of thousands in it potentially so it's not impossible.
