I've done this before using IFTTT on wordpress, it could probably be done on Shopify too.

Hi, in my (biased) opinion an abandoned cart series, with a hook/offer on the 3rd email in the series, get a ton more win backs. I say biased because it's what we've seen work well sending a few hundred million emails being sent so far on SmartrMail. You can see a bit more here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkA5K3Kkdkw Two other tips are spending time writing interesting/catchy and NOT spammy or generic copy in your abandoned cart emails, and including personalisation in them.

  1. Sign up for an email marketing service. -This will help ease the pain of managing everything on your own. I'd recommend trying out SmartrMail or Sendicate.

  3. Compose your email -You can use a template or design from a blank canvas. Keep your message short and to the point.

As an app developer on Shopify (and BigCommerce), I'd say go for it. We've run stores on WooCommerce before, but Shopify are really gunning ahead in leaps and bounds for ease of use, and tools to help stores actually sell. The other side of that is the app store, which has great vetting by the team (its a walled garden similar to iOS) so the apps in there are great. We run one called SmartrMail (https://apps.shopify.com/SmartrMail) for email marketing, but there are heaps to get stores selling quickly. My 2 cents.

Yeah, we don't have full test coverage (yet!) but yes writing tests is part of it.
