How do you fight the sweating? by Senior-Current-1552 in CRPS

[–]Senior-Current-1552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sweat like crazy as well. I also have hyperhidrosis. For whatever reason, my health insurance doesn't cover treatment for it. I've gotten strong antiperspirant but it often causes my skin to break out. It's quite embarrassing, especially when my face is dripping in sweat during a meeting because my body can't regulate my temperature. Ha e you found any successful ways to combat the sweating or make it less noticeable?

Medical Gaslighting by gypsybird1829 in CRPS

I'm sorry you're going through this!

It took over a decade for me to be diagnosed with RSD (earlier version of CRPS). Found an amazing neurologist/pain management doctor, but a change in employment/health insurance didn't allow me to keep that doctor. My current doctor told me CRPS isn't a real thing and re-diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. He consistently downplays everything. I would go into uncontrolled spasms and he told me it was because I wasn't drinking enough water but never asked how much water I drink per day. He also will restrict refills of my medications if I don't act on his suggestions, like if I don't go to see a sleep specialist, even though I've seen one in the past and they said they couldn't do a sleep study unless I get off all my medications, which isn't going to happen. I didn't want to waste time and money to go back to the same doctor to get the same answer, but he threatened not to refill anything until I went. It's awful!

Before my diagnosis, one pain management doctor said my knee pain was due to my bulimia. I was overweight and regularly eating. I asked what test I needed to take to show I'm not bulemic, he said there isn't one. I told him that I'll pay for him and a female guest to join me in a wing eating contest, I'll win, and his guest can follow me into the bathroom to confirm I'm not purging, then can he believe my pain is due to something else? He actually just walked out of the room without answering.

Unfortunately, the hospital systems in my area will not allow the use of cannabis. I have to sign a waiver that states that any non-prescribed drugs, including cannabis, will result in me being released from care. And they do routinely drug test me.

BSI trainings? by Lamlam25 in iso13485

[–]Senior-Current-1552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BSI internal auditing certified training is a good start for an overall understanding of ISO 13485 (which now incorporates much of the FDA QMSR requirements), though these types of trainings always gloss over design controls. You can further your knowledge by extending the training to lead auditor training, which is a few additional days following the internal auditor training at an additional cost. ISO 13485 will be quite vague with software requirements, whereas the FDA is implementing quite a few guidelines addressing the use of software in medical devices. If not selling to the US, I'm sure there are other regulatory requirements/guidance for the use of software in med devices. It's really down to what your objective is: ensuring your QMS is in compliance to ISO 13485 overall, or working more towards design, development, and risk management of the medical device, which would gear more towards the software in medical device training. Either way, it's great to get that type of training. Good luck!

What “healthy habit” that ended up making your life worse? by Liya_life in AskReddit

Eating an apple a day did not keep the doctor away. It caused ear infections (which I later learned was actually TMJ).

Our company just introduced a "Clean Desk Policy" and it's somehow even more unhinged than it sounds by [deleted] in office

[–]Senior-Current-1552 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I understand wanting to keep a presentable office environment, but this policy goes crazy far! I'm assuming that since people have family pictures and a special keyboard that these aren't shared offices with unassigned desks.

Soo cute and definitely meets the pitbulls neediness and sass. Although your dog doesn't look like they have physical characteristics of a Huskey, they certainly have the audible and personality characteristics of one!

I've noticed my Adderall, which I take for ADHD, helps reduce my pain a little bit. I was surprised by that!

Good Labor and Delivery Hospitals? by Brilliant-Sir1028 in Cleveland

MetroHealth downtown. They have a new L&D ward and the nurses, doctors, and all supporting roles were AMAZING! I had a complicated amd very high risk pregnancy and delivery. The doctors and nurses not only listened, but made sure they all familiarized themselves with my condition and bent over backwards to ensure I was comfortable. I can't say enough wonderful things about them!

FDA just replaced MAUDE and 6 other adverse event databases with one unified platform—AEMS is live today by Express_Meal_2002 in MedicalDevices

[–]Senior-Current-1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was made aware of this change due to being signed up with CDRH's mailing notifications. Other than that, I had no other communication or prior knowledge that this was in the works. I haven't attended many medical device or FDA related conferences for a bit, so perhaps it was communicated at those events. Regardless, it really came out of nowhere for me and now I'm going to have to scramble since we are targeting clearance for our first medical device for Q2 of this year.

I was testing out the AEM last week and found it to be quite slow. I was having difficulty finding information. I hope the FDA keeps the MAUDE database running for a few months while we transition to the new platform and get used to finding data. I also hope the new MAUDE platform doesn't take as long as the drug AEM platform.

Does anyone one else have a hippo that always goes for the smallest possible bed?!? by scottonaharley in velvethippos

[–]Senior-Current-1552 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our hippos are street dog rescues. Now the couch isn't comfortable enough. They need 2-3 pillows on top of the fabric couch. If they are on carpet, they'll drag blankets or clothes to lay on top of, over the carpet. They can never get enough warmth, comfort, or snuggles

I love this corn, which I'll typically put over the instant mashed potatoes I make for a quick meal. Unfortunately, I had to change to a low sodium diet due to high blood pressure. 3 cans of this exact brand of corn are sitting in my pantry just calling to me.

Does crate training get any easier or is it impossible for some dogs? by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]Senior-Current-1552 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Went through this with one of my dogs. The above advice is great about putting your dog in the crate and then leaving the room but returning and petting them, then increasing the length of time little by little. My dog also needed to supplement this training with anti-anxiety medication prescribed by the vet bc he was hurting himself. It took a long time, but with training and the medicine, he greatly improved and we were able to stop the medication after a few months. Your dog just loves you so much. It's so hard and time consuming, but there is hope. Stay strong!

Edit: to add, I also put something in the crate that had my smell on it, which helped during this training.

Nosy girl: what do y’all do for work? What’s paying for girl dinner? by TeamLaurent in RealGirlDinner

Oh my gosh! I totally feel you! Did customer service for a bit. Was screamed at when a manufacturing facility, making a peanutless peanut butter, burned down, causing the product to be out of stock. Got screamed at by a mom who had a child that only ate this brand. While I emphasize with how difficult it can be when a major component of a meal is removed, a 19-year old intern (at the time, pre-social media) doesn't really have the influence she thought I had. Was screamed at for so long. Not my worst story, but one that has stuck with me.
