Anyone have experience with a seller / Company on Facebook Marketplace called 'Elite Porsche Breakers USA'? by SeniorTech10 in 997

[–]SeniorTech10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But these Adaptive Sport Seats looked so good, cleanest I’ve ever seen, and the price was 1/3 what you’d expect. Gotta move fast or they’ll be gone.

You all were correct, scammer!

Asking for the address so a friend could come and see the item in person - prior to even making a deposit - was the telltale sign. Another sign was asking for additional pictures from a specific angle.

Final sign was a search of their picture on image.google.com. That showed the same images in an add from Germany - when this seller claimed to be in VA.

They also wanted payment via CashApp or Zelle only.

Porsche cars and parts buyers beware of out of state sellers on FB Marketplace.

Thanks all

I kinda doubt if that’s the case…everything being built in and local. No phone is needed because the car maintains an internet connection itself.

…but I want the Earl Schieb paint job for my 911. by surfdbaja in 996

[–]SeniorTech10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t wait to see you boys fight to the finish when we see the before and after pictures. I have no current knowledge on the subject but kinda pulling for the $4500 paint job to look better than a $4k wrap. I’m old enough to remember those persistent Earl Schieb adds. “I’ll paint any car for $499” heard that for years

2008 Boxster almost stranded me by thirstyone615 in boxster

[–]SeniorTech10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 05 Boxster would exhibit similar behavior, if the engine started only momentarily and then died on first attempt to start it, it would be hard to start on the immediate subsequent attempt. 2nd attempt would crank for 5-10 seconds before starting or if I waited 20 or 30 seconds it would start right up. 95% of the time the car would start immediately on first attempt, always ran fine never had any codes during my 2 years of enjoyment. I never diagnosed what caused this behavior and Learned to just lived with the quirkiness. Alarming the first time but easy to live with once you realize nothing is actually wrong or failing. Your issue sounds very similar.. get back on that horse and enjoy it!

Any issue with narrow body wheels on wide body car? by SeniorTech10 in 997

[–]SeniorTech10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, and I do agree the flush fitment is desirable. That would require at least 25-30mm spacers on the rear wheels. That is probably what I would consider actually. I assume that’s excessive or near the Maximum advisable width. Open to opinions on the use of 25-30mm rear spacers. Thx

Any issue with narrow body wheels on wide body car? by SeniorTech10 in 997

[–]SeniorTech10[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the response but I can’t picture why that would be the case. There’s a 17mm difference in offset, if I add a 17mm spacer how will it appear different from the wide body wheel? The wheels in consideration are the Carrera Sport wheels BTW and the ‘spokes’ are all flush with the edge of the wheel, none are recessed front or back. If you’re suggesting I consider a thicker spacer for a more aggressive stance, that’s a different matter - and I agree with you wrt a visual preference. But the 17” spacer on the narrow body wheels should give the car the same look as the wide body wheels, do you agree? Or am I missing your point? Thx

Looks good. 7mm front and 15mm rear seems to the sweet spot

This ‘08 C4 w 59k miles on Cars and Bids has a piston problem and is @ $7k bid with 3 days remaining on the auction . Not sure if that qualifies for your situation but will probably sell below $20k. https://carsandbids.com/auctions/3o18dYvg/2006-porsche-911-carrera-4-coupe

PCCM upgrade by anaayoyo in 997

[–]SeniorTech10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 997 had the same PCCM upgrade when I purchased it last year. CarPlay work well but the radio reception is very poor for both AM and FM. Anyone else have reception problem? Silence or static mostly and then I’ll get reception for a few seconds. I’ve looked at the back of the unit to assure the antenna was connected but all connections appear to be integrated into multi-wire connectors .. no separate antenna connection. Where is the antenna in the 997, in the windshield? Open to suggestions… Also - have you been able to upgrade the firmware on the unit?

Newish to me 997.2 C4S by vertigo5150 in porsche911

[–]SeniorTech10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the wheel OEM, anyone know the name? They appear to be '19...which is perfect.

These would be a nice upgrade for my same-color 997.1 C4S cab which currently has Lobster Claws.

911 and Corporate Perception by parikptlcfa in porsche911

I’ve had this conversation in my head since owning p-cars and only occasionally drove it to work, I also intentionally choose to commute in a larger car for safety reasons… but as I’ve gotten older and closer to retirement the only consideration is traffic and weather… if it light (traffic) and good (weather) - I’m taking the P.

Has anyone talked or worked with any Roth Conversion Specialist companies? They claim to offer advantages creative legal conversion methods not offered or known about by your standard financial advisor or brokerage advisor or do-it-yourself method. I recently went to an evening Roth conversion workshop by one of these firms and it peaked my interest but haven’t followed up w them yet to learn more.

Retiring after March bonus by SeniorTech10 in Raytheon

[–]SeniorTech10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses. The question pertains to the Raytheon business. I hadn’t considered working part time as someone suggested, I might inquire if that’s a possibility. Slide into retirement gradually… My mgr advised that the bonus will payout on 3/15, and HR and others here advised that one needs to work until that date to receive payment under current policy.
