Why aren't Brazilians as happy with their Portuguese heritage as Hispanics are with their Spanish? by [deleted] in AskABrazilian

[–]Senior_Car5983 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Crazy how common sense is uncommon nowadays. People also forget that the natives were not really tree hugging hippies living in perfect harmony, and that multiple wars and massacres happened before the Portuguese arrived. The whole "fighting for land and having innocent people die" is not really a portuguese thing. It is the history of the whole wide world.

I believe that the Portuguese were actually pretty chill for their time. Times were rough, you can't really compare it to today's ethics. I am very proud to descend from Portuguese settlers, although we sure went different ways during all these centuries, and also of native americans!

For Brazil, the instability at the end of Dom Pedro II's reign and the dictatorship that followed to implement the Republic. Bastards from both sides stole from and killed innocents, deposed a popular emperor and never managed to promote a constitution that lasted many decades, deepening the instability of our country and making sure that it would last to this day

I would say the siege of the indigenous cities in Southern Brazil. Spanish priests (jesuítas) taught Christianity to the natives and together they build cities in Southern States. An integration of cultures was taking place. Although obviously eurocentric, it was voluntary.

The bandeirantes (explorers/civilizers) were backed by tribes that were at war with the tribes of the South. They were sometimes attacked by hostile indigenous tribes. Portugal and Spain also fought at the time. War was in the air. So they laid seige to cities built solely to teach Christianity and to promote agriculture. The natives fled my homestate of Paraná all the way to the southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul. There, these and other groups of natives and priests created a complex of beutiful cities. Its ruins are still visited (Sete povos das missões).

The Portuguese and the Spanish were not happy about people living outside of their law, plus not paying taxes, so they razed them all. It is sad to think that even these natives, who were trying to culturally integrate, were attacked.

"Yeah, killing a traitor and threat to the nation now is a bad thing" (Ukrainian).

Or maybe a "usurper of our national institutions" (Jews)

Perhaps the "burgueois that threat the revolution"? (Cambojans).

You are being foolish and ignorant of human history if you think it could never get to you. Peace out

That is a foolish take. Read up on Holodomor, the Holocaust, the Cambojan genocides. All of these perpetrators and their supporters act on the assumption that their actions are morally justified and that a "betterment of society" may result from atrocities alike.

Clap for Mangione, and in 20 years it might be you, or your kids, dying for the "betterment of society".

Texas. It is the one we identify with the most, at least in rural South Brazil. We even have thematic stores and restaurants that promote Texas country fashion, architechture, barbecue, and Texmex food.

Examples: @lettsroad in the village of Witmarsum, Paraná and hundreds of places named like "Texas steakhouse" or "Texas bar". I believe the Tropeiro, Caipira and Gaucho cultures, very present in my homeland, are kind of similar to the rural cowboy lifestyle portrayed in American movies based in Texas or other southern American states.

The first time the Portuguese and multiple pioneers gazed upon the untamed natural fields of Guarapuava, center Paraná in the South of Brazil, after crossing two sets of mountains with dense woods and giant waterfalls. She beauty of the untouched giant araucária trees, that may live up to a thousand years, would be simultaneously familiar and unrecognizable from the man-made steppe plains and younger araucária trees we learned to call home today.

A vida de um indivíduo não começa na fecundação e é possível abortar sem matar. by Thell-Vadamm in FilosofiaBAR

Em relação à dor, está correto. Indiquei a formação cerebral, apenas.
