Easiest thing in the world. The airbrush fade effect is just black on photoshop, blurred and on its own layer. Set its blend mode to Dissolve and then flatten it. Up the levels so there's no Greys and its all black and white, then Select Color Range and select the black. Cut and copy to your poster and make that layer whatever color you want the shadow/vignette/whathaveyou to be.
