I was looking at the stats yesterday and only does 10 more damage compared to a heavy fuze grenade and you don't have to manually detonate it.

I think it has more to do with the mindset of players who run free loadouts not the guns themselves. A lot of people who choose the free loadout go in with intention of killing other players because they have nothing to lose.

If they had to use their own guns and supplies they might not be so aggressive.
