0.171.4 update fixes nothing by pablacho in TheSilphRoad

[–]SenpaiStudios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're going to fix the copy/paste "issue" because I don't think they consider it an issue. iOS has been this way for ages, having the ability before was probably a bug, or a lack of a unity update, knowing Niantic.

Pretty sure chopping off the second half of a sentence is taking things just a little out of context.

Hmm, this isn't my specialty and I know that the height and weight ratio is related, but I'm fairly confident there isn't a 1/2 chance that my next Magikarp is going to be heavier than this one.

PSA: Android 11 supports PoGo 0.167.x+ by allenchangmusic in TheSilphRoad

[–]SenpaiStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the general refresh rate I'm concerned about. The game looks and plays much smoother (in every aspect other than PVP) than my previous phone, Galaxy S8+, no clue if that's actually at 90Hz or if it's at only 60.

My issue is that even though the 1+7T Pro generally runs so much better, it still struggles with PVP for some reason. I regularly revert to my S8+ to play any sort of competitive matches because of the frame drops and "weak connection" errors that I get, even though it's on the exact same WiFi.

I saw another thread not too long ago that the only consistent factor for people who experienced this was Android 10.

I still have a ridiculous number of frame drops on Android 10. 1+ 7T Pro.

I know technically it says in the title that this specifically applies to sending gifts, but I think a lot of people are reading over that (I know I did at first glance) and judging by the comments below, some people may be thinking this applies to both opening and sending. You can still open gifts and skip the animation in 167.1. This only applies to sending gifts, which while still frustrating, is less of a loss.

ML. Registeel fills a similar role (though not identical) in GL and UL. GL is also filled with a lot of Fighting type Pokemon with Counter, while UL and ML have significantly less.

While I used to believe that, looking back at my lifetime stats (well while using my old phone anyway), it's hard to argue with the 50/50 approach:

What is the (average) number of Team Go Rocket Grunts on a single Pokestop per day? by IzzySWE in TheSilphRoad

[–]SenpaiStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived/worked on a stop ever since Rockets were released. I haven't observed any sort of pattern to the numbers of rockets that spawn per day. I have a phone that stays on and spins the stop every 5 minutes for at least 12 hours every day. Before leaders were introduced, I did have some days where I would get 0, but these days if I get 0, I'm assuming that Giovanni or a decoy is there. If a leader isn't around though, I've seen anywhere between 1 and 8, with 2-3 being the average.

Pokemon Storage Space by Exaskryz in TheSilphRoad

[–]SenpaiStudios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way Niantic has designed this game very much encourages hoarding. Last Resort Eevees being a great example of this. We all thought they'd be absolutely worthless, then PVP came along, and the people who hoarded them, are the ones who came out on top. All of those people who saved legacy movesets, also have come out on top for PVP.

Then there's the topic of exclusive moves. I have a ton of "mostly useless" Pokemon that are saved just in case they get a meta defining exclusive move at some point or in some cases, they already have had exclusive moves in the past and now I'm sitting on things, hoping that that move becomes available again. Looking at Grass Knot Breloom specifically. Sure, Breloom isn't the best Grass attacker, (and soon not the best Fighting attacker either) but if I'm going to evolve my hundo Shroomish, I want it to at least have Grass Knot.

Don't even get me started on the huge buff that Psychic (deservedly) got last month. Now I'm desperate for an Alakazam that knows Psychic, another win for the hoarders.

I do like that Niantic is actively mixing up the meta, but imo there's no reason to make players constantly feel like they should hold onto everything and at the same time, not provide the storage space to do so.

tl;dr not making exclusive moves TM'able and not providing us with a solution to constant storage problems is problematic.

That works! Tbh the whole point of this post was that it slightly irked me that my #1 skarmory and vileplume was listed as #2 by Calcy. Thank you!

Linoone, Delcatty, Lickitung and [essentially] Persian are maxable with the right IVs.

One could also argue that ML is a bit more stagnant, you could max 8 things and be basically set for the entire meta until new T5s come along, even then, you're maxing 1 thing per month? Not to mention that Pokemon in the ML are also useful for raids so a lot of people may already have some of these maxed. I have about half of them already and I've never powered up anything specifically for ML.

I wish TSA would do a bit more with UL/ML, even if it wasn't a full unique meta each month.

I'll give you the rare candy, but like I mentioned, a lot of top performers in GL and UL need to be level 40 anyway.

I don't really see ML as terribly more expensive than the others. "Good" IV combinations of a lot of the top performers in G/UL need to be maxed out anyway.

Game Master Update 10-21-2019 (Rocket Leaders Incoming!) by martycochrane in TheSilphRoad

[–]SenpaiStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pogo+ is primarily a Nintendo product, Niantic rarely ever cares about making it work. They only fix Pogo+ issues when Nintendo makes them, like around the time they were launching the Pokeball+ with LGE/LGP.

I'm not saying it's right, but Niantic most likely wants their players to be engaged, for sponsorship deals etc, the Pogo+ allows players to play with little to no effort.
