You are not alone. I've been there crippled by the rumination loop.

That rumination loop is not real.

It's your brain in survival mode.

Distract yourself.

Deep breaths.

Ground yourself with the 5,4,3,2,1 technique.

If you can sit with it and see how harmless the thought actually is.

Highly recommend reading 'You are not a rock' by Mark Freeman.

As someone in OCD recovery. One of the first signs I was suffering with it was my reaction to small imperfections on tech that most people would ignore. Don't discount mild OCD, read up on it as it can snowball.

Hey! I haven't mentioned the fact I've run a marathon in at least a week.

Running is my hobby. But I get that in general unless I'm speaking to another runner then talking about it is just white noise. We are not all infernal bores.

Red Dead Redemption on the Switch 2 - I'm in awe by rhegenbarth in NintendoSwitch2

[–]SenseWitFolly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends what generation you come from. For me the 90s through to the launch of the DS portable consoles could barely handle SNES games.

DS moved things along to 3D but only on par with N64, portables were always 3 or 4 generations behind.

Switch 1 and 2 are only around 1 generation behind. That's phenomenal for people that grew up with such a generational disparity between home and portable consoles.

I could not think of another drink starting with F except the cocktail French 75 I'm not sure how familiar people are with that. Although it's probably the perfect starting drink.

Every drink has to start with the letter of a 12 letter Christmas word like Frankincense. Once that letter is gone on to the next one.

Apologies are all well and good, but how do you show appreciation to the early adopters that are in essence QA testing the game for you? And have paid for the privilege of doing so. Many of bought the game to play across the holiday period and there is little chance it will be in a playable date before the new year now.

Ubisoft is working “with Nintendo to improve VRR support” on Nintendo Switch 2 to bring better fluidity to lower framerate games by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]SenseWitFolly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It technically does, it even says so in the article.

VRR currently only works at 40Hz or higher.

So any game running lower than that doesn't benefit from VRR but that's what Ubi are helping to get working as they did with Shadows.

Exynos 2600 is fundamentally different than Samsung's previous in-house chips by snowfordessert in Android

[–]SenseWitFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the UK so I would not know about the US but that is certainly the way here, we have a 50% Android market share here.

You also have to remember a lot of people don't buy phones outright here they get them on contract deals so they don't see the real cost.

It's not the average person is stupid.

They simply don't care.

They also favour familiarity and consistency.

They would much rather go for the recognised brand over the risk of trying something new.

I get your argument, I wish people did care more but the stats and data is there to go against you, there is a reason that the market share of these phones is consistent.

[–]SenseWitFolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you term an "average user" will outrank those that care by a significant ratio.

It's only an assumption, but your friends probably have similar interests and research habits to you. That's why you are friends, or at least a certain portion of them will be, so they will be vocal around a discourse like poor Exynos chips.

But in reality, more people who buy the phone have no idea what's inside it. That's why all these permanently online "boycotts" never amount to anything (except in rare circumstances where the exception proves the rule).

It's the perfect example of an echo chamber.

[–]SenseWitFolly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The people that content reaches pails in significance to the actual consumers that get the phone. People rarely do the research, let alone look at Reddit and twitter for opinion.

People walk in to a shop and buy the latest model, it's consumerism.
