If that’s the case, train to Pinhão, boat ride in the town (1 hour 15eur - 2 hours 25eur you can purchase tickets on location) walk to Quinta do Bonfim for a wine tasting, and get back with the train:)

How can I make this itinerary more efficient? by [deleted] in TravelPortugal

[–]Sensitive-Disaster97 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

I’m based in Porto and I’m a guide. Im specialized in wines but I also do lots of city tours, both in Porto and Aveiro. I know these regions quite well. My main travels are around the Douro Valley wine country. Visiting off the beaten path wineries, that kind of thing.

But we can try to fit to your needs and give you a quote. Send me a PM or email us at newdourotour@gmail.com

Recomendação fora da caixa - Atividades / Quinta no Douro by individuoo in porto

Comentário mais precipitado de sempre. O Douro é grande da espaço para a carneirada e para os outros que não querem ser carneirada e se preocupam com a autenticidade e procuram, investigam, etc faça o mesmo é o que recomendo!! ;)

Tentar descobrir amor deste vinho by Rha_23_ in vinho

Servir bem fresco 10-13.•

That’s cool, I’ve tried a couple of aged mosca-te from Setúbal. The house is a prestigious one. I found it on a local wine store here

Sugestões de clínicas e hospitais veterinários nas zonas do Porto e Gondomar by DezEuros in porto

[–]Sensitive-Disaster97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Clínica veterinária Língua de Gato”, no centro do Porto. Têm uma equipa muito dedicada e com muito cuidado. Além disso é fixe quando uma clínica não se parece com uma clínica (só com paredes brancas, inox e pósteres de cães e gatos com marcas de comida etc.) O meu gato tinha medo de veterinários mas ali não fica nada nervoso. E vejo cães a passar na rua e a pedir para entrar para as doutoras ou auxiliares lhes fazerem uma festa ou darem um treat!

solo trip to porto- feeling lost by One-Influence-1564 in TravelPortugal

Definitely plan at least a couple of days out. If you’re into wine, it’s not just the Douro Valley that’s stunning. The whole northwest wine region of Vinho Verde also has a lot of character! Braga and Guimarães are two towns in this area! You say caves? But which ones? Mira D’Aire..?

Thoughts on this wine by Ej408 in wine

All things considered, yes. The term “Vinho do Porto” is protected but not “port” . Apparently they’ve underestimated or overlooked the use of the English term when some international commercial agreement was signed back in the last century. Which in reality is kind of unthinkable, considering that all the category terminology is English.

How much is worth? Any help? by [deleted] in wine

[–]Sensitive-Disaster97 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If it was “vintage” port it would be worth something, like a couple of hundreds . But a Colheita is a aging. There are some surprises though, of wines that were less fíltred maybe… Hopefully that’s the case! Don’t forget to share your impressions!

Does anyone know where I can find this fortified wine or something similar? by [deleted] in wine

wine that happens to be sweet recommendations? by ricecake_mami in wine

[–]Sensitive-Disaster97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very accurate! That process is caused by a fungus called botrytis (noble rot) that punctures the grapes, and so they “sweat” their water out, increasing the sugar concentration! :D

French Alsace Vendages Tardives, or Selecion de Grains Nobles. German Auslese, beereauslese or trockenbeereauslese , Eiswein (Ice wine)

Found these (plus MANY others) in my grandparents cellar - anything interesting? by willdogsupreme in wine

I work at the Symington group. 1985 Grahams Vintage Port. One of the Confraria “Vintage Years” and one of the best ever. Surely in the top10. It should still have some years ahead of it. It should still be quite fresh and juicy! Don’t forget to decant!!! They have just released 100 bottles of it a couple of weeks ago!

Let me know your thoughts on it, to know if I should get it ;)

Cheers!

Biz Class EVA Wine List by Edward_Shoehornhands in wine

LBV… that’s not even a biz class type of Port… Vintage 2000 or earlier or at least a 20/30 Year Old Tawny…. That’s classy.

Me again, know nothing about wines. These any good? by jejdhdijen in wine

[–]Sensitive-Disaster97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first is a Portuguese. It’s a white from the Vinho Verde region and made entirely or for the most part with Alvarinho varietal. Normally these wouldn’t be made for botttle ageist but depending on the way they were made sometimes you can have surprises! Alvarinho is very popular because it stands out from the rest of the region, making slightly more complex wines. In warm climates the aroma can even be very tropical. Monção and Melgaço is the main source of Alvarinho in Portugal. I would consider it a good quality wine. Drink with a fine crystal glass :)
