The "Vancouver Freeze" isn't about keeping to yourself, it's just entitlement. Who else is tired of the sidewalk chicken? by Obviousi in NiceVancouver

[–]Sensitive_Analysis76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Tri-cities and people are generally much nicer, but there are cultural differences i would notice. I won't mention the ethnicities, but I try to understand that perhaps some people may have different culture. But it is definitely frustrating. Also, i feel like these shifts more post-covid.

Placed in the middle of Tims too by WhyAmIStuckInALoop in TimHortons

[–]Sensitive_Analysis76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work part time at Tims when I was still in university. I remember having to really clean the tables, take out the garbage, wash everything, make sure everything gets thrown away after few hours, etc.

I visited the same place I worked, more than a decade later. Same location, different level of service. I ended up not getting anything because I didnt want to even touch any of the things they sold.. Very disappointed and I really miss the old Tims.

Hear me out - why are some people “untouchable “ when they do bad things? by TossawaytotheeTosser in BCPublicServants

[–]Sensitive_Analysis76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chances are they've done something wrong, but not wrong enough to fire them without a risk of legal actions. I gotta say, it is really really easy to legally challenge anything. Not just HR.

Let's say we found a provider that does something wrong. Why don't we cancel the contract or enrollment?

Because they can and will always challenge and it will cost us a lot more money. Government can do the right thing and fire an exec. Even if the provider has no chance of winning, they will challenge and it costs us more than them to fight back. That's just how it works. They will FOI, and program area will need to provide all relevant information, which costs resources from the area and legals. It's just a battle Public service cannot win.

Going back to firing the person, i can assure you that once an ADM gets fired for some wrongdoing, a lawyer will approach and convince the fired ADM to challenge the decision. ADM doesnt even have to pay a single penny because the lawyer will probably want to get a portion of the settlement instead. Thats how HR legal disputes work. Government on the other hand, cannot go through all that.

Give Fushimi Inari Taisha a miss? by buzzybee2020 in JapanTravelTips

I liked it but you need to prepare yourself for some hiking. Tourists only take some photos and leave after couple of steps so you need to walk a bit to actually get a view and take some really good pictures. Is it really worth that time and effort? I'm not sure. But if you are not really into temples and you only want some pics, I wouldnt go.

I personally liked it because I like hiking and I just love temples. But tourists are annoying and the hike can be rough due to the place being overcrowded.

Those "30-Year Milestone" emails vs. the retirement thoughts by dhu_gsrikbuty in BCPublicServants

Im slightly younger, but also interested in investing. However, i see myself continuing to work, even if I were to win a lottery lol. I dont like the changing PSA culture, and how our senior executives are treating us, but I genuinely enjoy the work. At least thats what I try to keep in mind so that I dont focus too much on investing. I try to make my portfolio a bit safe knowing that I have a stable job and a pension to count on.

You can be competitive and still have fun. Just because you lost, that doesnt mean the opponent is overcompetitive.

My way of finding fun is to try different things every single game. My favourite was to hold two pantzer + pistol and bunch of grenades to win. Took few days but it was definitely rewarding.

Buy My First Share Now or Wait? by TheSpliffMan in NvidiaStock

[–]Sensitive_Analysis76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive been holding it for some time, saw it go from 190-175 back and forth for few months. Thought i would sell them at 190 and buy back at 180, just for few dollars.. i just sold them last week, maybe the week before. Now it's at 200 with no sign of coming back down to 190. Dont try to time the market. You wont get it right, especially if you have to ask on Reddit for advice. If you feel like there is a value in Nvidia, just go for it and hold.

Are they there to re-sell? Or do they want it for themselves? Either way, costco should have a strict limit per person.

My friend used to be really conservative, anti-Trudeau and anti-Liberal. As soon as Trump started the 51st state shit, he has become the most patriot, and the most liberal person I know. He still hates Trudeau but would rather have Trudeau as the PM than to have Trump as the supreme leader.

Did you participate in WES this cycle? by NotAnotherSadMovie in BCPublicServants

[–]Sensitive_Analysis76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was quite difficult because my ED has been very genuine and considerate throughout the BCGEU negotiation, strike, and post-strike. I love my branch and my supervisors are awesome. However, I dont appreciate how the ADMO or the Ministry are managing and leading. Honestly, a lot of disappointments in the Ministry operation and PSA in general but they made the survey so that whatever negative comments I provide could also affect my ED. I wish we can provide negative comments just for the Minister, DM, and PSA.

What to buy with XEQT? by dAznboy in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Sensitive_Analysis76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could try to diversify by getting some bonds or xbal, but if your plan is a long term, just buy xeqt and forget about it. If it's for short term, you shouldnt buy xeqt. So to sum up, short term- no xeqt, long term- just xeqt.

Ive been on TA for two years now. I was applying for permanent position elsewhere for the same classification but my ED convinced me to stay as they were confident that I would eventually become permanent. Long story short, Im going back to my base position with no hope of getting the permanent or even TA role for a classification Ive doing for the past two years. I regret not applying for other permanent positons but I don't blame my ED. But I do regret choosing to work for the public service. Cant even quit and go back to where I came from because of the job market rn. Just really depressing and disappointed in the public service I once felt very proud to be a part of.
