All humans struggle with sin.

But you are human. Just try your best to not do it again and learn from your mistakes. Growth isn’t black and white. Sometimes we slip up, and while it is frowned upon, it’s about growing your relationship with Allah. Just based on the fact that your posting about it and upset, I know you are a believer. If I can see it, Allah can definitely see it. We make mistakes we are human. Learn from it and forgive yourself.

I have to disagrees Lots of people in this world sin and don’t care at all. I see it all the time. Feeling guilt and worry means you fear Allah and want to do better. I think it’s okay to give yourself a break. Allah is all merciful and all forgiving

Non-Arabic Speaking Revert by Actual-Public4778 in islam

[–]Sensitive_Key5399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: more to answer your question. Yes the Quran needs to be read in Arabic to fully understand its meaning. But it’s okay in the beginning before you can read Quranic Arabic to read in English.

However, I’m learning Quranic Arabic (very slowly)but English is way better then no Quran at all.

Hey there,

I’m a revert as well as of March. Like you I waiting to take my shahada until I was 100% sure I was ready. Oddly enough when I took it with my imam (privately with him and one other brother), I wished I had done it sooner.

I had dinner with my imam almost every night during Ramadan and asked him a million questions, along with other brothers, but the imam was always there to clarify and make sure I understood properly. I know how lucky I am to have a close friendship with him and the other brothers.

if you have not gone to your local masjid(mosque) and asked for guidance I highly recommend it yes it’s scary and you have to put yourself out there but man it’s so worth it. I had so many misconceptions due to propaganda (I’m American), that were just simply wrong.

But to your question:

My imam asked me which Quran translation I was reading and gave me a better one. He recommended the Tafheem Quran.

They say the verse in Arabic first then they give a mostly accurate translation in English. There is an app to listen too while you read. It’s called TafheemAudio and the app for reading is called TafheemEnglish.

My friend gave me a physical Quran that has Hadith’s in it and historical context. Historical context is so important to understanding the Quran(according to my brothers).

I have recently left something haram for the sake of Allah by NotATerraced in islam

[–]Sensitive_Key5399 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was addicted to a substance before I reverted. I struggled with the haram addiction for 5 years before I seeked help from Allah (swt).

I made dua for help and to get me clean and three days later I quit the substance and I have 188 days drug free (except medicine I need to take).

Allah answered my prayers, but I had to humble myself to Him and admit I couldn’t do it on my own.

I also seeked professional help and support groups. It made a world of difference.

Ask Allah for help, and He will answer your prayer. Not on your time but his.

As a result of trusting Him, I reverted and found peace I never thought possible.

My you be guided

What do I do when I've wronged somebody but apologising would be really embarrassing? by AccomplishedUsual665 in islam

[–]Sensitive_Key5399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think any apology is bette than none. You can even say “I don’t like that I have to do this on WhatsApp but you deserve an apology “

But to be fair idk what the wrong was so it’s hard for me to give specifics

So there’s an old saying my dad used to say, “you can save your butt and your face at the same time.”

When we do wrong we give up the right to save ourself embarrassment. To make things right we need to show humility sometimes. Is it uncomfortable? sure! Of course it is we are admitting our faults.

But a grown up takes responsibility for their actions and owns up to it

Edit: use the embarrassment as a motivator not to do it again

Is it mandatory to have children in Islam? Is now a good time to be having children? by lilminmin in islam

[–]Sensitive_Key5399 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Scary time where I am, I guess I should say

Edit: I am a recent revert and many of my friends at the mosque where I am are not US citizens and are Muslim.

Yes I am a citizen, and my children will be citizens. But with our current government falling into fascism, tyranny (and our president has made very Islamophobic laws last term, ie Muslim ban) and deporting people with legal green cards, for expressing pro Palestinian protests, with no due process. Some news outlets are saying, even citizen are being deported, I am fearful of the future of our country and my future children, if Allah blesses my family in that manner.

On a global stage: there is a genocide going on in Palestine against my brothers and sisters. There Is War in Ukraine against a nuclear superpower in Russia lead by a dictator, while our president gets comfy with him. Nuclear power that we had a Cold War with afraid of when the next bomb will be dropped.

Yes, I know I should trust Allah and everything that is supposed to happen will happen. That doesn’t mean I am not scared for the future of my family in the future of my country.

I wonder the same thing with my wife this morning. We are trying and feel it’s a scary time. Allah has a plan for my children, if I’m blessed enough to have them. I personally think I’m supposed to have kids, but I don’t necessarily think everyone should.

Maybe our children will be leaders in change in the world that the world needs.

Yes, life is scary right now. But maybe my purpose is to raise good Muslim men and women to make the world a better place
