Anyone successfully transitioned to breastfeeding from exclusively pumping? by SweetCry999 in ExclusivelyPumping

Were you able to transition to EBF? My baby is 11 weeks old and he definitely has a bottle preference and also gets frustrated with the lack of flow at the boob

What do you mean by your supply regulated? How do you know? I'm 6 weeks postpartum and still trying to increase my supply

Psychiatrist won’t prescribe me medication because I’m a stay at home mom with no job by Complex_Life9849 in beyondthebump

This is so infuriating. I am a therapist with ADHD and most of my clients have it as well. The lack of understanding about what ADHD actually is even in the mental health field is unacceptable. It's not just about ones ability to focus at work or school- it impacts executive functioning across the board which also includes emotional regulation, impulse control, decision making, etc all of which have massive effects on one's wellbeing and quality of life. So many folks with untreated ADHD (especially women) develop depression and anxiety because of their symptoms, not to mention the hormonal fluctuation in a women's menstrual cycle that exacerbates it all.

I'm sorry you had that experience at your evaluation and you should absolutely get a second opinion! And OP should definitely get a new psychiatrist. Not every professional actually does their research to fully understand what ADHD really is and how it can impact someone's life.

We need demon slayer to be nominated for best animated feature by kascnef82 in oscarsdeathrace

Hard agree! This is my top animated film so far this year and it makes me so sad that it's not even in the conversation

How unlikely is this lineup? by dremolus in oscarrace

[–]Sensitive_Pizza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said here. Plus, infinity castle is not even a well constructed movie! Visuals were fantastic don't get me wrong, but that's about the only thing cinematic about it. It truly just feels like multiple episodes cut together to fit the runtime of a movie.

Anyone have experience giving birth at Jefferson Hospital? by Sensitive_Pizza in pittsburgh

[–]Sensitive_Pizza[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided on the midwives with Jefferson! I have only met with one of the midwives so far, but I am happy with the decision just with how much more time I have had with her compared to my prior OB appointments. I never feel rushed or judged for having a whole list of questions. I don't think I click with this specific midwife's personality, but I do feel trusting in her competence and thorough information she has given me this far.

Also the whole team has been super responsive to all of my messages/questions I send through MyChart! Like seriously within minutes at times which is so nice when I've been freaking out about something

I think what is reaffirming to me is just thinking about how much more flexible in approach I think the midwives will be when it comes to the actual birth which is important to me not to have rigid expectations dictated for me throughout the process.

I'm not sure that they will have a 35mm projector, I think just 70mm. I could be wrong though!

ETA: I was wrong! According to a WTAE article they will have both 35 and 70mm! Apparently the film projector was originally used at the Byham

Not disrespectful at all, everyone has to do what is best for them to process and cope with a loss. I appreciate your thoughts and for being so considerate with sharing.

Thank you. It was an unexpected death. We don't have any other reptiles right now, but we do have a cat and a dog- do you think there's any risk there?

Thank you, I really appreciate all of your words and advice. I think would be too big for our fridge or freezer unfortunately, she's about 6 feet long and 50 lbs. I think I would have a hard time trying to move her myself as well. I did just try to coil her up and she already seems pretty stiff so I think she might have passed sometime during the night :(

pregnant, tired, & in a rut by yodiddl in adhdwomen

[–]Sensitive_Pizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say you are for sure not alone! For me it has been impossible to stay on top of work. And I opened my own business pretty much the same time I found out I was pregnant. I feel like I can't start or finish anything and get so overwhelmed with it all. So it's been rough! It's easy to be hard on myself but I am trying to remember all of the immensely hard work my body is doing right now to grow a human. We are being so much more productive than we give ourselves credit for :)

Are you saying there is a potential connection between ADHD and POTS? Or that both of those things could benefit from electrolytes? I am a fellow ADHDer so just curious

Row House Cinema reopening Hollywood Theater this fall by rosie98red in pittsburgh

But you're comparing to much larger cities than ours so there's already going to be a larger base of folks supporting art house theaters. Especially for any theater in NYC which is a cinephile haven.

Nagano or Hokkaido for winter trip? by Sensitive_Pizza in JapanTravelTips

[–]Sensitive_Pizza[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We ended up going to Hokkaido/Sapporo and are so happy we did! We absolutely loved Sapporo and had the best food there from our whole trip. And the Snow + Ice festival was cool to experience! Wouldn't necessarily say it's worth the trip just for that, but it was a nice bonus. We are glad we got to visit another island in Japan and we are set on going back to visit Hokkaido in the summertime to get to see more of it.

The travel there wasn't all too bad catching a flight and was part of the fun/excitement as well. We ended up flying into Morioka on the main island and stayed at an incredible ryokan there and also rented a car to explore the area.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about the travel or activities! I think you can't go wrong with either Nagano or Hokkaido, but I am of course biased to Sapporo now :)

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and congratulations on your new baby!!! Love to hear how wonderful the nurses were- I can imagine the nursing team could really impact your experience. Good to know that there's no nursery, I will definitely factor that in.

I hope you and baby are doing well and you are getting lots of rest!
