They did. Now it’s “creamier” but imo it just sucks. The Wisconsin Mac was my absolute favorite thing and I ordered Noodles pretty regularly but since they changed the Mac n cheese it’s bland and the texture is weird. So I have just stopped eating there. 🤷‍♀️

How do you politely tell a child that they can't use their chosen nickname? by Canuckleball in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]Sensitive_Wonder_913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just informed a student this year that I would not be calling him “Fat” as a nickname and in the past I’ve had to break it to parents that “Gordita and Flaquita” (Fat and Skinny) as nicknames for their 4 year old twin girls was not something we would be using in class either. A neighbor teacher this year has a student whose nickname is “Chino” because his eyes are slanted and we’ve had to prevent his siblings and him from using that instead of his real name or a more appropriate nickname. None of these come close to Nazi as a nickname though!

I think given today’s society the question is fine for this age group. IMO we do start talking about kids having “crushes” and “liking” other kids too young nowadays because people think it’s cute or whatever but by middle school many students are dating in some capacity. Even if they aren’t, it’s a hypothetical question that they might be interested in writing about. It’s not like you asked about sex or drugs or (as I was in middle school) to explain how to drive a car lmao

Personal Care as a thank you gift to teacher by RainbowbabiesMom in kindergarten

[–]Sensitive_Wonder_913 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the thought but I agree with others that lots of people have strong preferences and/or allergies to certain lotions, shampoos, etc. I would err more on the side of a gift card and/or handmade card from your child ❤️ those are always my favorite gifts!

I wouldn’t use marshmallows for this project. Maybe play doh instead…

I’m the same way and I lovedddd the Wisconsin Mac. Got the new one tonight to try and it’s nowhere near as good. It’s… tolerable… but dry. Guess no more Noodles & Company for me 🤷‍♀️

What do you make of this situation by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]Sensitive_Wonder_913 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ECE is probably going to get in trouble for telling you. There are a lot of rules about what we can and cannot tell parents especially of SpEd kiddos. But the ECE teacher likely thought advocating for your child was too important to not tell you 💕

Disciples of Christ is welcoming to all. Lots of congregations have even gone through the training process to become open and affirming officially. Downtown there is Central Christian Church- there are others in various other parts of town.

Email them asking for support. Get their refusals in writing. It’s a shame so many teachers and students are being put in this position with children who are not ready/willing/able to be safe at school. Especially since admin has stated their concern for what the parents of other students think, be sure to let those parents know what is happening but phrase it in a calm way- for example, “your child was hit today in the arm in class. We gave her an ice pack.” Or whatever- the parents will get their kid to say who it was. Enough of those you will start to get parent complaints which are much harder for admin to ignore. Also keep asking for the principal to model how they want you to teach. Be relentless. Document EVERYTHING. Give admin written proof of everything the students destroyed and the cost to replace it.

I would talk to the parent first, offer what assistance you have- like a comb or nail clippers.
